Hey guys! I have some time off coming up on the 4th of July and I'm trying to decide where to vacation (in the US).

    Any ideas?? I'm pretty open.

Had to check where you live....You're on the East Coast so head down to the Virgin Islands. Its a quick trip, and the best beaches and crystal clear water you'll find.

I really like St. John. Met some great gay guys down there that are still friends. Its off season, so the $$$$ is pretty good.

The U.S. Virgin Islands for a quick trip sounds smart. Also, it keeps the money in the economy.

For all the rah, rah July 4th Americana, Boston's pretty good. I hear that NYC and DC would be good places as well.

If you're looking to get away from the holiday hoopla, then go to Montreal. Their Jazz Fest is usually around July 4. I was up there last year around the holiday and had a great time. Unfortunately, Toronto Pride was that same weekend, so the gay scene was really quiet, but the city overall was fun.

I second the motion on Montreal. The weather is generally mild although humid days in the 90s sometimes happen. Due to the frigid winter weather, the city lives outside between late April and early October. The city parties non-stop with a string of festivals throughout this period. What I enjoyed most about Montreal was the mixing of lifestyles and cultures regardless of who was sponsoring a festival. Everybody seen was having a great time.

Air fares to anywhere at this late date may be prohibitive for flying over the July 4th period. Seat space may also be an issue.

    fairstlfireworks.jpgSt. Louis, MO
The VP Fair, Parade and Fireworks
Air shows, fireworks from barges, synced to music as you sit on the banks of the Mississippi under the Gateway Arch eating good' ol' American bbq ribs and Middle Eastern shish kabobs, chugging down Anheiser-Busch Beer.

If you're looking to relax, go to the Cayman Islands. Most beautiful, relaxing, quiet beaches I've been on.

Lowered the percentage, yes; but until that percentage is zero, some people will still take vacays. icon_wink.gif
