Found floating in a swimming pool and no immediate signs of foul play were present.

Awww. I watched him on Celebrity Rehab. He seemed like a decent person despite what happened to him.

Bette Midler might think he got out just in time. Years ago she seriously said (paraphrasing) that even for her, 47 was the cutoff and the beginning of social death.

This is terrible. He was just on CNN talking about his new book a few weeks ago. I hope this was not foul play.

So Rodney King gets like 5 comments. If only he was a porn star then he would get about 500. Sad to see a man who did many great things die quite young.

    I agree with you.

What happened to him should never have taken place to begin with. Rodney King deserved better.

He doesn't sound very decent to me. Infact i've never heard of him before today but one of the papers reported that in the last two decades , he has been arrested 11 times for domestic violence, assault, drug use and DUI.

Sounds like a really nice bloke!

But he's a black rights figure so saying anything negative about him makes you rayciss regardless of the veracity of your statements

Rodney King was a low life career criminal loser. Even during that incident when he was beaten, the cops were unfairly portrayed. While already on parole, he was driving drunk, on drugs, and sped nearly 100 miles an hour, ran several lights (while the police were chasing him), then when he stopped he refused to get out of the car. Then when he decided to so do, he charged at the cops and hit and threw them. He would not lie on the ground as asked. How many of you know there were 2 other passengers in the car that day? They adhered to the police requests and were never touched !!!
King proved what kind of a person he was by continually being a criminal before and AFTER the incident

Exactly, until I know what killed him am not sure whether to feel sorry or not. He has a huge history of substance abuse and drugs which might be reason behind his death, in which case am not sympathetic.

A father of 3 kids,a son,a friend and a human being. No matter what negative things are said about him I'd hope he'd rest in peace knowing he made an impact and passed young but at least he left a legacy in varies communities but more importantly with his family.

    RIP

Listen we all have our issues in life, his was made public because of his celebrity. We don't know what his legacy is but i'm sure he left one. Instead of pointing out flaws just say RIP and move on with it.

Get your facts straight on this one. Rodney King was anything but a civil rights activist. His beating just happened to be the spark giving Blacks the impetus to show their anger toward the Los Angeles Police Dept's practices toward Blacks. Too bad you never had the good fortune of being stopped by LAPD for a DWB [Driving While Black]. This was a constant and disheartening part of my younger years. While racial profiling was not written procedure, it was practiced just as openly then as practiced toward Muslim Americans today.

It's always weird to me when someone actually dies when I think they have already been dead for like 15 years. Next thing I will be told is Madonna is still alive. God forbid.

Sad day to lose your father on father's day. RIP Rodney King.

As for the other posters; we all have a past and skeleton's in our closets, that doesn't give you any right to judge a man in any manner. So quickly to look down on someone for their mistakes and faults but fail to see the light of their lives. Yeah it's horrid that he put him and others in danger while driving drunk many times. What showed that he wanted to progress past that is him going to rehab, even if it was on tv. He went trying to break an 'addiction', so the man was trying to change for the sake of his family. Get over yourselves please.
