Am I reading this right? Rubio is withdrawing his plans to announce a plan on immigration for the Republicans because it is deemed too similar to Obama's recently announced strategy? And he claims that Obama is playing politics?

Seems like an admission that most Republicans will never agree to do anything that Obama proposes.

It goes way beyond Rubio. Orrin Hatch had a "DREAM" act in 2001. Read all about it here:
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/post/dreaming-of-bipartisanship/2012/06/18/gJQARmlwlV_blog.html

...To recap: When Democrats endorse ideas Republican pioneered, that doesn’t lead to bipartisanship. When they endorse ideas Republicans currently support, that doesn’t lead to bipartisanship. And when they act on their own, that’s too partisan.

So what, exactly, are they supposed to do?

There's 3 things the Republicans can do:
    1. Propose legislation similar to Rubio's and make Obama's discretionary administrative rules into law.
    2. Bring suit against Obama's rules (e.g. by highlighting some poor potential DREAMer's situation in court).
    3. Nothing, and keep railing against Obama's fiat in ads.

1 and 2 are politically inexpedient (even though 1's the right way to go and 2's the "right" way to go). That leaves 3.

I wonder if Rubio will now start speaking out against Obams's Immigration stance in similar fashion to how the repubs turned against their own "Public Mandate" idea that Obama put in the Health Care Law. LOL

This is going to be interesting.
