    It gave me butterflies.

So odd that you posted this now; only yesterday I told someone who was watching "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" (where he was even worse than in "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps") that outside of "Holes" and "Disturbia" I couldn't stand Shia Lebouf. Never got the hype.

I thought it had some interesting ideas about addiction and how it turns people into raging lunatics.

But overall, I thought it was overly artsy, pretentious and not really that original. Really, butterflies as a metaphor? No one's ever thought of that before!

The music is mindnumbingly boring too... though I've heard good things about Sigur Ros. And the lead singer Jonsi is openly gay.

To me, this was an artsy metaphor ... Drugs will destroy everything in you life, yet you keep doing them to continue the illusion that it is all okay

I know he's grown, but I will always know him as Louis Stevens...so seeing him naked will always be weird to me.

Haven't watched it past the minute-mark. The naked parts are around 0:40 to 0:50. If you don't watch you won't miss much. yawn

I never found him attractive. I don't mind him as an actor, but he does nothing for me.

Most naturalists and nudists claim nudity to be non-sexual. What they don't realize is that by promoting that mindset, they're stigmatizing sex. We wouldn't be here if it weren't for sex.

That said, I love the message of this video. Nudity AND consensual sex are ok.

Too bad it has to be with a chick. icon_sad.gif

Sigur Ros' music is an ...acquired taste? I've never taken to their work, though I can respect it.

    The video was..mildly interesting.

the song is amazing and so are the underlying messages. I love the art of it. I guess if you're not used to seeing 'weird' you won't like it too much. ASU school of dance has shown me their ways and their ways are a bit weirder than this. (btw anyone notice the dancing in the beginning? not much but it's there).

^^^ Agreed. to understand Sigur Ros, you need to know a bit about the abstract world of post-rock ambient music, which is composed using contemporary methods to evoke an emotional tone, or ethereal composition of experiences.

so i think the video conveys those mixed experiences, traversing artistic inspiration and chaos, symbiotic yet destructive relationships, familiarity and discomfort, sensitivity and brutality. its not a literal narrative, its an artistic expression, and maybe not very polished, but its there. i thought it was cool.

it was a visual experience. The forces of the world...the pain people inflict upon those they love. I saw the butterfies as the memories and experiences life is built around.

    Interesting . . . or perhaps I am full of bullshit.icon_biggrin.gif

i thought the butterflies were about fragility, tentativeness, fleeting moments of beauty. the fact that he had attempted to preserve them, encased in frames on a wall, was significant. as was the smashing of them at the end.

Looks like something shot in the late 60's, right down to the glassy eyes!icon_eek.gif

Just goes to show you if someone wants to get naked for the general public without the tawdry sex tape stigma, there are always vehicles for it. Probably hoping for a little more "adult" consideration by way of cinematic roles as well. It isn't like he can do the transformer gig forever. It worked for Daniel Radcliffe.

As for artistic, certainly in the eye of the beholder.icon_biggrin.gif
