If you were a contestant on Jeopardy, what categories could you run the board with? And what categories would you hate to see show up?
For me, I'd do well with show tunes, 90's baseball, anything having to do with contemporary music or sports rules, American lit and Disney Princesses. I wouldn't be able to answer a question if it had to do with geography, history (except maybe Colonial America), science, opera or art.

Daily Double Question: Who on RJ do you think would make the best Jeopardy contestant? JP aka Cranky and Bullwinkle have an impressive amount of random knowledge rolling around in their heads. Maybe Art_Deco?

My fear is that I'd get

    The Bible
    Astronomy
    Mythology
    Sports
    Monarchs

    Give me

    Geography
    Music
    Food
    Politics

History of most stripes for me, the older the better. Some science (like Astronomy/Cosmology), Literature, Music (modern or classical) are other big ones. My art history is pretty rusty though. And sadly, so is my sports history.

I'd be okay in anything to do with music/theatre/tv/film/pop culture, and possibly with some literature, art, and history. Keep me away from anything involving science or math, though.

Most sports categories, but primarily baseball. Pretty sure I'd own most people in that category. Movies, music, certain biology/chemistry categories, American history, politics, and American presidents.

    I could run

Oscars Trivia (most any awards show, but very Oscar centric)
    TV Theme Songs
Most sports categories (except hockey and baseball post 2000)
    Biblical characters
    Literature (except Poetry)
    Presidents
    Politics
    Classic Country Music

    Categories I would fear

    Ballet and/or Opera
    Physics
Greek or Roman Mythology ( i always get them mixed up)
    Math past basic Algebra

Been trying for years to get on the show. Got as far as to get called to an audition in Philadelphia a few years ago for the written test and a mock game with the producers. Alas, didn't make it.

FYI, I did get on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire back in it's salad days (2000) when you had to take the phone test to qualify. Was one of the 10 contestants but didn't make the "hot seat". My head is full of exceptionally useless knowledge, so I'll take on most any trivia comer

    Civil Servants
    Stamps From Around The World
    Mothers and Sons
    Beer
    Bar Trivia
    Celibacy

I have a trivia brain full of random facts but can't synthsize worth a darn. I love Jeopardy. icon_exclaim.gif

PS: Is A.T. gay? I once read that he has a cat, and color coordinates his closet meticulously. icon_question.gif

I would do well in 80's pop culture.

I think that GreenHopper would make a great Jeopardy contestant. Super smart on lots of global issues.

    I would do well in::

Geography (I'm a total map nerd)
    Literature
Word categories (Crossword clues "B" etc.)
    Most music categories, opera included
    Foreign languages
    Cooking

I would probably do OK in:
    History
    Religion/The Bible
    Chemistry
    Football

    I would be leery about:
    Health/Medicine
Sports except football (but see Baseball below)
    Any movies since 1975
    Any television since 1965
    Shakespeare
    Mythology

    And I'd hate to have:
    Baseball (have never followed it)
    Ballet
    Biology

I've qualified for Jeopardy! four times, but never been called. During the last audition, another contestant told me that middle-aged white men tend to do well in the auditions, but are at a disadvantage when appearing on the show, because the network likes to have a diversity of contestants. I am undeniably white and male, but how this person was able to determine that I am middle-aged is beyond me.
