Anyone see the film Bigger, Stronger, Faster? I thought it was an interesting look at this country's fascination with steroids. Comical, objective, educational, and personal. It tells the story of three brothers and their decisions with using or not using steroids and the moral and ethical use of steroids in not only sports but in American society in general.

It's being played in limited cities.

Actually, that was the name of a film that they showed us in high school. It promoted weight lifting - not that the school could actually afford any weights - we just watched the film in PE class. Thinking back, I guess it game me "funny feelings" watching those guys. As near as I can recall, the film was produced by BYU.

    Looks cool.
I once read in The Metro (in Boston) about a year ago; you know where the readers write in letters w/ opinions on topics (usually bashing the T or something about Menino...), well it was about steroids.
This man was more or less saying that guys taking steroids is just like a girl getting a boob job.
    An interesting analogy I think.

I am dying to see it. I think it sounds so interesting. I listen to muscular developments podcast "No Bull Radio" and John Romano from there helped with the movie.

They have talked alot about it and it sounds really good. They say alot of people are responding positively to it and it makes them think twice before they judge on something they dont know anything about.

Yes, both men and women take these into consideration for many reasons I guess, self-confidence being one of them. Steroids are more dangerous I think in that they are more accessible for teenage boys than plastic surgery would be for girls. There is also a performance aspect to it beginning in high school sports, and being told you're good enough unless you get bigger.

The fuck... There's a female figure skater on the poster... And here I was thinking that red-headed French judges were all that comprised the underbelly of my sport o.o;.

    EDIT: Oh cool, 200 posts...

I saw it here in SLC (it's not playing here anymore sadly). I thought it was a good and interesting film and brought up some great points about the hypocrisy in sports and legislation regarding it. I'd highly reccommend it. I think it will be out on DVD in september.

I believe the figure skater had more to do with the Tonya Harding/Nancy Kerrigan incident. They compared steroids to some other forms of cheating including that, Tiger's Lasik surgery which gives him a supposed vision advantage now, Curt Schilling's cortisone shot during the 2004 playoffs etc.

I watched this on youtube today while I was bored at work.

IDK it gave the impression in my eyes that HGH, anabolic steroids, etc aren't harmful and they are okay (yet the guys old brother dies like 3 months after the film is released?). Dangerous stuff.

My favorite part was where it was revealed that statistically Congress devoted something like ten times more time on steroids in baseball than they did the war in Iraq.
