I am looking for a career change. I have thought about being a Dental Hygienist. I am 42 yr. old and thinking this will be a good field to get into. Do you think that I am too old for this kind of work.

    Please send response to Icndylvr@yahoo.com

    Thank you,
    JIM

No, but you should talk to some dentists and then some hygienists as well.

But you can create your own market, working for several dentists on a revolving schedule, etc... I knew one who did that , filled in on peoples days off, had a more flexible schedule and a high hourly wage, she was good though.

Most of the hygienists that I have seen and know are 40+, no they did not start at 40, but you can work another 10-25 years as one.

As a sidenote, I love my dental hygenist! She is so awesome. When it comes to about 4 months after my last appointment I get antsy to go again. I'm the sick fuck who actually loves the dentist.

But sometimes in my job, I have too clean dentures. If it was not for gloves. I think I would ralf everywhere.
