For anyone contemplating coming to south Florida, and particularly to Wilton Manors for Stonewall Pride and Parade, be aware it looks like steady rain Saturday and Sunday, June 23-24 (a twilight parade is planned for Sun).

I've already had RJ e-mails sent to me about the weekend, but wanted to blast this in a thread to save others the disappointment. Check the weather online yourself, but it doesn't look promising. icon_sad.gif

Try to find a furry speedo. It'll help keep you warm

It might be chilly outside but I'm guessing it will be hot inside some of those Castro Street bars! Tomorrow's parade should be like today, it's all sun and quite comfortable out, perhaps a light jacket just in case!

Happy Pride from the Gay Mecca!

Alpha13, since it is going to be unseasonably cool in San Francisco for the Pride weekend festivites why not wear tight blue jeans and a black leather jacket. Or wear a nice hoodie with white running tights from under armour. icon_biggrin.gif

We finally got a break in the rain after I wrote the OP, enough time for me to run out and transport our special HIV/AIDS-theme bicycle over to Rosie's, where it will hang from the ceiling. It went on our rear bumper rack, and I didn't want road spray to muck it up, being custom painted. Then we have a donated raffle bike to take tomorrow morning to an exhibitor booth, again hope we get a break in the rain, just short local distances.

If you do come you might want to bring an umbrella, periods of rain predicted all day. Rain is actually something of a Stonewall Pride tradition here, though usually limited to brief pop-up thunderstorms with mostly sunny skies. This weekend will be overcast and rain threat continuous.

Glad others are using this thread to highlight the weather conditions expected for their own prides. And actually I hope RJers do consider attending a pride, I think they're great. icon_biggrin.gif

I'm sorry for being so naive, but I have to ask. Is the original post meant to be some sort of inside joke?

I had to search to find out what exactly a Wilton Manors is......

Apparently, there is a two square mile neighborhood north of downtown Ft. Lauderdale called Wilton Manors. I'm sure it is a charming little hamlet, but I don't understand why the need to share the local weather report with us here on a globally read site.

I might understand it if the OP was warning of impending storms for NY pride, SF, or even Miami, but a two square mile neighborhood?!

    What am I missing?

Huh? That was Wilton Manors forecast you linked. Is somebody disputing what I'm seeing right out my window? Or what I'm reading on multiple sources?

We have a continuous threat of rain & thunderstorms into Monday, overcast the whole time. I just returned from a late lunch, and everyone here is planning against rainy periods for Stonewall Pride tomorrow, Sunday. Does somebody know something I don't?

You are missing your brain, obviously. I stated in the OP that I'd been contacted in RJ e-mail by guys planning to be here for Stonewall Pride, whom I hope to meet. Which involves not only Wilton Manors, but also Fort Lauderdale, and Oakland Park, 3 of the most gay cities by percentage in the entire US. The 2 square miles isn't important in itself, but rather what is happening for gay pride here.

Since some of those guys who let me know they're coming here are driving in from other parts of Florida, others RJ members may be as well. A Pride draws many people from all around. Hence I let them know via a thread that the weather wasn't looking good, and to check for online updates.

I gather that southbeach1500 and his cohorts have been bashing me about it. Well, that's typical. They trash anything of benefit to gays, try to discourage gay unity & pride in every aspect, encourage us to abandon our political friends in favor of our enemies. If you want to align yourself with that self-loathing anti-gay clique fine.

But it's not gonna stop me or others from posting things of useful benefit to our gay community. So play the spoiler if you like, you'll be in bad company. icon_biggrin.gif

I assure you, sir, my faculties are completely intact.

If you had been contacted by RJ members via email who were planning to come there for Pride, why the hell are you creating a forum here about it? Why not just reply to their emails?

Art_DecoAs some of those guys who let me know theyre coming here are driving in from other parts of Florida, others RJ members may be as well. Hence I let them know via a thread that the weather wasn't looking good, and to check for online updates.

Your friends wouldn't have had the common sense to check the weather forecast themselves?! I assure you that anyone traveling to this country's multiple pride celebrations this month will check the respective weather reports before they venture out. Anyone who thinks otherwise is probably one missing HIS brain.

Art_Deco...A Pride draws many people from all around.

Mmmm- hmmmm. Pride celebrations certainly do. icon_rolleyes.gif

Of course, but you should know how notoriously unreliable such forecasts are. An on-the-ground report from someone right there in person is much better, don't you think?

It rained all day here in Wilton Manors yesterday and last night, and right until about 11 this morning. We have lots of standing water. Since then it's sprinkled a few times and remained threatening. Tomorrow (Sun) looks no better, with the highest rain chance toward late afternoon, when we'll be having our parade.

Well, we certainly know how notoriously bad your forecasts are. Be sure to alert us if an avalanche is heading your way too. I'll break out the cross-country skis and head to the southeast for the summer icon_wink.gif

OK, just got back from meeting an RJer visiting Wilton Manors from out of town. We went to a popular place and were outside on the patio under an umbrella table, when one of the managers came up and said we should go inside quickly, a storm was approaching.

We did that, and sure enough within 5 minutes we had a downpour, and they had to lower their rain curtains, our former table left outside in the deluge. The heavy rain lasted an hour, and it was still raining lightly when we left hours later.

I'm told there is some dispute in this thread, though I can't see it, about whether we're having rain in Wilton Manors during our Pride weekend. I mean, really? Guys who don't live here are claiming they know what our weather is? It fucking poured here, and it's still raining. I guess some guys were just born to be delusional. icon_confused.gif

Sounds like last year's "Come Out With Pride" event we have in Orlando. It rained the entire weekend and the entire event had to be rescheduled for a November date.

    Rain happens.
