A Washington Post article published Friday morning detailed Bain Capital’s extensive record of outsourcing jobs to other countries.
Former Governor Mitt Romney (R-MA) spent years at the helm of the venture capital firm Bain Capital, where “his fundamental role was not to create jobs or better paying jobs, but to create maximum returns for him and his partners and investors.”
Romney, said the Post, presided over Bain Capital’s investment in several firms that specialized in outsourcing U.S. jobs to “low-wage countries like China and India.

Romney now claims to want to rescue the U.S. economy and bring jobs back from overseas, but he made his millions doing just the opposite. “During the nearly 15 years that Romney was actively involved in running Bain, a private equity firm that he founded, it owned companies that were pioneers in the practice of shipping work from the United States to overseas call centers and factories making computer components, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.”

Obama administration spokesman David Axelrod said that the American people need to decide, “Do they want an outsourcer-in-chief or do they want a president who’s going to fight for American jobs and for the middle class?”

Mitt Romney has no jobs plan. Mitt Romney likes to fire people. Mitt Romney destroyed jobs and shipped them overseas during his business career. Mitt Romney does not understand the difference between corporate careerism and serving as President.

Mitt Romney is not a job creator and has no idea how to create jobs as President. This is just yet further proof.

Fortune Magazine, not exactly a left-wing beacon, is joining the criticism of Romney for pretending he's come kind of "job creator" when in fact he made his millions from outsourcing jobs.

    From the Fortune article:

"The problem with this (outsourcing) history, however, is that it runs counter to Mitt Romney's own narrative. And he only has himself to blame.
On the campaign trail, Romney has a tendency to talk about a job creation record. Specifically, that he helped create 100,000 "net jobs." As we've previously reported, it's a figure that no one, including Romney, can actually calculate. Bain Capital never tracked the number of jobs it created, let alone the number it destroyed or outsourced. Nor did it track any collateral employment damage, such as a mom-and-pop stationary store put out of business by Staples (SPLS).
Had Romney been more honest, he simply would have said that Bain Capital had a singular mission: Make money for its investors.
It should be interesting to see how the Romney campaign responds, particularly if someone is able to ask the candidate for the number of U.S. jobs that were outsourced by Bain Capital portfolio companies during Romney's tenure."

Don't be fooled by inserting the Fortune link. It says the question is important to discuss but labels the Washington Post article as "fairly lackluster".

How can Romney defend shipping American jobs overseas?
This may not be technically illegal but it's certainly unethical and completely un-American.
Apparently his one and only priority was making himself even richer, no matter who he harmed in the process or how much he damaged his country.
But why does someone like that deserve to be elected President?
That kind of behavior should be universally condemned -- not rewarded.

I think he has a lot of explaining to do.

I don't begrudge Romney doing what he had to do as a businessman to maximize profit for shareholders. It's business. Yes, we wish companies would be more thoughtful about the civic consequences of their greed, but it is what it is. As long as American voters allow politicians to allow free trade, this is what you get. It's capitalism, which is often ugly, and it's preferable to the alternatives.

What I don't like is Romney trying to act like he's some great job creator when he's not. The issue people have is Romney trying to pass off his business career as some great qualification for President. Romney and thse right-wing laissez faire Teabaggers do not seem to get that running a country is not like running a company: you can't just cut costs and lay off everybody and -- voila! -- all problems solved. Romney's jobs plan is to fire teachers, firefighters, and police officers. That's all he has. He just isn't qualified for the White House.

You can bet that Obama's people are digging into the Bain numbers from all angles and that it will become a major point during the debates and the Democratic Convention.

I can't wait to see and read Romney's 'song and dance' to devorce himself from these facts.

But of course the RJ Conservaposse will ignore it all and still forward voting republican.

Romney keeps trotting out this claim that he created 100,000 jobs, but mysteriously he can't offer any supporting evidence or documentation.
His company didn't keep records when they hired people?

More and more people suspect that he made that number up.
Every journalist should demand to see some proof every time he brings up this talking point.
