    Hi Guys,
A few weeks ago I saw LLCoolJ on TV promoting his new workout book. He recommended tensing or flexing one's abs for a count of 15 as a good abs excercise. I looked at his book briefly, didn't see anything on this. Anyhow, since then I have been doing this and it seems my midsection is firmer (under my flab layer unfortunately). Of course I'm also doing crunches and the usual abs exercises. Any of you have experience with this, or techniques, etc? Is there any harm from doing these? Thanks for your help!.

    Hey, Antelope-
I'm no expert, but have read in mens fitness magazines that tensing and relaxing your abdominal muscles targets the deeper muscles(under your six-pack) of your abdomen. its these deeper muscles that help to strenghten the core. So,yes, exercising these muscles as you have mentioned is a good thing. These muscles also help us to improve our posture and take some of the load off our back muscles. Good luck.

i try tensing and holding as long as i can at red lights and when i'm on hold on the phone.

i think it helps, and then it could be my imagination, but they do seem tighter when i get out of the car or stand up.
