At long last - we're nailing down both a time and a place. You see the date. The place (barring overwhelming votes for someplace else) is Mt. Holyoke State Park in central Mass.

Google Map of park location

Mt. Holyoke Range State Park is located in central Massachusetts.
From east or west: take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) to exit 5, Rte. 33 north to Rte. 116 north to the Amherst town line.

State Park info

Map of the park

Key Information:

Rising roughly 1,000 feet in elevation, Mt. Holyoke Range State Park straddles the seven-mile ridge that runs from Hadley to Belchertown. The ridge is a patchwork of state, town and private lands. Parcels acquired by the state since the 1970's bring the park to over 3,000 acres. The Notch Visitor Center, located on Route 116 in Amherst, is open daily.

So, who's in and what time shall we meet?

Can I assume it's a hike.

I'm in. 9-10 AM would be a suggestion but I'm not tied to it.

Yes indeed - sorry I wasn't more specific - it's a hike. Hoping we'll be able to rope in someone who has been to this particular park.

Perhaps we should discuss carpooling options as well.

PS Sooo sorry to hear about your dog.

I got a note from matt45710 so I assume he may be going too.

I don't remember who was going on the previous thread.

Thanks for the thoughts about Mike.

Yup, I'm going. Gotta find out who this Gig guy is, and if he's as cute as his pic.

I'm also planning an August 16th kayak trip in Brookfield, Mass., so check out that thread if you can't make this one, of want to come to both.

Why do you think I've been trying to plan this? How else was I going to meet him?

I'm planning on being there. Do we want to arrange for CT car pool? I'm happy to drive, especially if people toss a few bills my way! Wait...that didn't sound right. Toss a few bills for GAS!

I'm planning on traveling there. What time do we meet? How about 10:30 or so at the Notch Visitor's Center on Route 116?

That time will certainly make it a lot easier for me and bg to get there without having to leave at crack thirty.

Notch Visitor's Center is the main entrance, right? Sounds good to me.

Annnnd, we're back. It was a grand time. I'm not sure about bgcat, but I'm able to walk, albeit stairs are a bit of work! Here's where we went/what we did.

About 8 miles, with elevation changes between 300 and 1,000 feet over the course of the hike! Not bad, if I say so myself!
