Why Don't I Get Messages On Grindr?

I'm just wondering if this is common or something I experience, I'm a fit slim build, 6ft tall, frequently referred to as "beautiful" or "handsome" and yet, I can be on Grindr for HOURS and not get a single message unless I initiate a conversation.

I've tried all kinds of pics... shirtless, body only, face only...yet the results are the same. On the other hand, I've talked to guys in my area who tell me their Grindr is constantly blowing up with offers/solicitations/interest.

I'm mostly looking for innocent chat, and my profile explicitely states that. I just don't get it. I never have issues in person attracting men, but have always found my online interactions (or lack thereof), to be suspect, at best. It should also be mentioned that I'm black... light skinned... but black nonetheless.

While I don't take Grindr seriously, I find this trend distressing, and am considering deleting the app.

    What gives? Thanks for reading

Its prob for the best. Most people on grindr aren't very good conversationalists anyways.

    This is a typical conversation.

    grindr: hey
    grindr: hey
    grindr: hey
    grindr: hi
    grindr: you there?
    grindr: looking?

You being black may be a small issue depending on where you are from, but if you are good looking as you've pointed out, then BELIEVE me boys who want a piece are out there.icon_twisted.gif

I think the bigger issue may be that you "explicitly" state that you are only looking for "innocent" chat. That very well may be, but depending on how you word it, you may just sound like a prude.

That's your problem right there. Most guys on GrindR are ultimately looking for dick and ass, not a friendly conversation. icon_wink.gif

That's pretty much a normal conversation there. Don't rely on grindr if you're looking for a relationship. I'm sure someone probably made a good friend via it, but it seems rare.

I met my best friend on Grindr. It's either been the best or worst decision ever lol
