I have the flu and it is KICKING MY ASS with fever/chills and all the other pleasantries of the flu. My Dr. tells me it is relatively unusual to have the flu in the summer but it can happen...not a cold not alergies, the f&^king FLU! Quite the birthday present...
Tylenol is helping but doesn't last long enough....any better suggestions on how to kill off the fever/chills cycle?
I'm frustrated, this has cost me an entire week of sick leave from work and I'm not any better now than I was on tuesday when I saw the Dr....and forget any type of gym time...gotta go...

Do you have any other symptoms other than chills/fever?

If it's a viral illness, there's not much you can do but ride it out. Stay hydrated, rest lots. You can take 2 tablets of Tylenol every 4 hours on the clock. Just make sure you don't take more than 4 grams in 24 hours. You won't go over the 4 gram limit even with 2 tabs every 4 hours around the clock. I would take it whether you think you need it or not--except when you're asleep.

Worse time of the year to be really sick as far as I am concerned. I spent 7 weeks with HIV induced hepatitis in 1995, and it was brutal. It was the hottest summer in years, and every time I had to go to the doctors it was all I could do not to pass out or throw up on the way there.

Get lots of rest, drink lots of fluids, and get better soon. The flu goes away on its' own, but it will go away faster if you lay low.
