An Australia-based Salvation Army official is catching heat for implying in an interview that gays should be put to death.

Ryan: According to the Salvation Army, [gay people] deserve death. How do you respond to that, as part of your doctrine?

Craibe: Well, that’s a part of our belief system.

    Ryan: So we should die.

Craibe: You know, we have an alignment to the Scriptures, but that’s our belief.

The Salvos here have always been cunts and homophobic, they ACTIVELY ignore gay people when collecting donations around any capital city. Yes they profile you if you look a bit gay they avoid you. Many straight people get a shock when they find this out.

Albeit I have no love or care for the Salvos. One must ponder the creadability of this paper, as it's a massive exaggeration, of what I've read in our local papers.

No. The transcript came from a radio show. So I would imagine it's entirely credible.

I have never been able to look the same at Salvos collectors since I heard similar sentiments recently.

@northoz - I think TBA & Mr Jones are mates from way back!

Well the name "Salvation Army" implies the wedding of fundamentalist Christianity with a militaristic world view. So basically the Taliban, but with crosses.

I never said that they were not homophobic; I know they are without any doubt, and as I said, I have no love for them. But they will allow homosexuals so long as they are celabit. I do not recall them saying we should be put to death , and I find that statement extreme thus question the article creadability.

But I'm also blessed that such views are of no issue to me as I am secure within myself, and accepted myself long ago to, thus do not seek it from others; albeit I get it. But then I don't agree with all aspects of religion either.

Wow - I'd never put those thoughts of exactly what 'salvation army' could mean together - but there you have it, spot on.

So what they see themselves as Christians and follow the scriptures, I know many people that do that, yet do not want to kill me. But I also know some of them are saddened because of their care for me, that when I die I will experience a spiritual death; die and not be with our Father in Heaven.

Once again I am secure in myself, and this is of no bother to me. Because my belief is at the end of the day we are judges on how we live our everyday lives and not how many times we go to church, or what religion we belong to. Yet how god must hang his head and weep at the wrongs done in his name too.

But if there is life after death, and you belong to a religion and do not obey it's laws/rules, then you too will die and not be with your Father in Heaven either.

Same old same old. If there is life under death there will be homosexuals in heaven too, and many in hell as well.

It's really all a none issue to me. If people want to use their vote to say no to gay marriage because gay should not be in marriage fine, it's their vote to use as they wish too, and I for one do not hate them for this.,

It's not just Aussie...I've been against the Salvation Army in the US ever since I learned of their anti-gay stance (which was very early in life, long before the internet).

I have worked in the medical field for 40 years and have found when the salvation army finds out people are gay, they will not help or even talk with them.. I find the US Salvation Army to be the most UnChristian organization and will never support them.

This is yet another reason why I donate to Goodwill and ARC rather than these pathetic excuses for "Christians".

Try donating again sometime, and let them you're gay. If/when they refuse, kick their asses.

Who knew someone could sound so polite while calling for the death of someone they don't even know.

I must not have had such a good upbringing.

    Hey, Salvation Army, Fuck You!

Australians in Sydney or Melbourne tend to be open to gay people. Not as much up north in Brisbane or West. I was surprised when going to the gay area in Sydney. There were mostly straight people, and the guys were just regular masculine guys for the most part except within the bars themselves, then it seemed like any other gay bar in any major city. So on the whole I think Aussies would frown upon comments like this.

Shouldn't they allow us then? Don't we always celebrate?
