Well I guess I am said stupid white guy - because I saw the preview for this yesterday and I seriously do not get why these movies are so popular. The jokes were completely lame and it looks like it took Tyler Perry about an afternoon to come up with the script. So yeah, I don't get it.

Its called simple comedy.... we laugh, because we can relate to it. If your Hispanic there might be someone like madea in your family. hence, we laugh not because of the story line, but because we know that there's a good chance that our family members would behave in a similar manner. ^_^ just enjoy it

It's mainstream now. All the real comedy has been totally sucked out. I saw one of his stage plays on DVD at a buddy's house a long time ago. Still not a huge fan of the way he mixes slapstick with drama and fairly serious issues (someone with my sense of humor never knows when it wasn't an appropriate time to laugh), but the comedy side of things was way funnier pre-Hollywood.

I get it. And yes, it's simple comedy that works for most people. And I do find the preview nice and hilarious at certain points.

I guess the people who aren't that into this movie (or any other spinoffs of the Tyler Perry franchise) are the ones who have seen too much of this type of comedy. And honestly, while I like it, the jokes are bit banal at times.

I've only gotten into one of his movies. Most of the time, they just seem too quickly put together.

What's not to get other then the dialog which comes from a particular American culture the rest is an already proven genre done by the Marx Brothers, Abbott and Costello, The Three Stooges etc.

If you don't get it then it's probably because deep inside you are insulted that a black man in drag is just as funny as a white man in drag.

Yes, I am throwing down the racist card!!! Or maybe your intellect is to refined for such bourgeois entertainment.

Omg a black man in a dress playing a ghetto granny ??!! How hilarious !

I watched one of the Madea films a while back. It was funny in places but the tone of the film really threw me. It was like half serious drama and half juvenile comedy.

Honestly, how much more mileage can Tyler Perry get out of one character? He's a huge success, but I wonder if people will burn out sooner rather than later.

I hope this one is actually funny. Went to go see Madea goes to jail thinking it'd be funny and most of the movie was about some abused woman and her life in the hood. Bored me to tears.

Also saw a DVD of one of Perry's stage plays of Media and it was better than the films, which have to be marketed to a wider audience. His plays seem much more true to AA experience: material written by a black American for black Americans. And the specific almost always does a better job of hitting the universal. But go see the film for simple laughs; it's just meant to be fun.

His movies are funny and have actual moral to the story meanings behind them. I've only gone to see 2 of his films in theaters and there were a significant amount of people from other races there. The ability of "getting it" isn't that hard...unless your someone who surrounds yourself with nothing but people who look and act just like you. Something that's very easy for those from the mainstream race to do. Wouldn't necessarily call it racist, but it's more so willful ignorance "I don't know, don't care to know and never will" something that is commonly demonstrated by the mainstream other as well as other racial groups (including Black).

Can Tyler Perry just go away? Not wishing him to no longer be successful--just be successful away from the general public? This Madea shit is nowhere near funny.

Well that depends on your sense of humor... Did u see Jack and Jill? Most of Adam Sandler or even Ben Stiller movies are just a 2hr run of mindless sap!

This is not politically correct whatsoever and some sensitive people might find it offensive, but it's SO true so I'm gonna share anyways.

Go see a black movie in a black movie theatre lol... It might be the funniest experience I've ever had and will probably be the only way I go see this haha. The audience is almost funnier than the movies
