BF DISAGREEMENT: Appropriate attire for mowing my lawn

So my partner and I have a little disagreement as to what I should wear when I'm mowing my front yard.

I like my black squarecut swimmingsuit and have worn it a couple of times when mowing my whole lawn.. and yeah, get looks from neighbors, but its 105 outside... and regardless of I'm the HOA (Homeowners association) president,
I'm going to be comfortable and to hell with white thighs....lol
They probably think I'm a nut for just being out there working when it's over 100 degrees.

He feels that this is a family neighborhood and I need to be a little careful about
getting out there with what I wear. I reminded him that I used to mow regularly at home and my Dad never said anything. I'd mow the lawn when I was 18 or 20, then go swimming. My bf reminds me that I don't look like I did when I was 18 (which is true).. ... "you reek sex" is his comment. I think its all in his head.
He thinks the black swimming suit is fine for the backyard, but maybe a little much for those driivng by... geez.

You reek sex... this will be my new pick-up line.

But seriously I think it's a little odd to wear swimwear while mowing the lawn, whether it's square cuts or boardshorts. Why not wear gym shorts?

Suggested lawn mowing attire..

I always would wear just like mesh shorts cause they felt better and I would go shirtless. The only complaint I ever got was that I mowed too early.

Wear whatever you want. Just make sure you have protective footwear on....

Could be really funny to play a trick on your boyfriend and let him catch you out in the front yard mowing the lawn in a 3-piece suit ---- or how about a bathrobe?

I fail to see the problem.

So what if some boys get out of the closet earlier

Wearing form fitting clothes while mowing the grass seems to compound the discomfort. Why not wear loose fitting athletic shorts?

I think it makes perfect sense. Unless you have a postage-stamp sized lawn what you wear while mowing is likely to determine your tan lines.

Oh yeah. I guess I better find some shoes and go mow...

I agree with your bf. Exercise shorts without a shirt are fine but square-cuts for mowing the lawn? Save that for swimming...

I'm sorry but I have to agree with your BF. I'm sure you look great in them, but speedos are barley appropriate poolside, let alone the front yard.

What is wrong with a rugged pair of loose-fit stone-washed jeans? Look good and protect your ankles from stones being flung out from the mower.

Well thats what I wore before, but I got tired of the shorts getting soaked in the process from sweat.

Well, if you were my neighbor, I would be more than fine with you mowing in a speedo - maybe even a nice thong to make sure your tan is as even as possible.

As long as you don't mind me watching from my window with binoculars. Just to make sure you don't pass out in this heat. I might even bring some lemonade out later...

I mean, we do have a neighborhood watch, don't we?

First, you shouldnt be cutting the grass in that heat....for the grass' sake. I know you are a neat-nut in the extreme, but it's not good for the grass.

I thought at the time of your originial post that tight squarecuts were a bit much. But I am sure no kids are being scarred for life seeing a man in such attire. I wouldnt feel comfortable dressing that way in my neighborhood. I go with the shorts like shown in the pic on here. But those are just my standards here in Virginia....which isnt Kansas, with corn, and buffalo, and whatever. I know there are some who are a little more "out there." But I wouldnt feel comfortable like that. I'm not looking for the neighbors to be sticking dollar bills in my waist band. What next....a pole in the front yard? Some woofers in the bushes? A disco ball hanging from a tree limb? Are you gonna need some bistro tables and waiters to serve drinks? ....turn the garage into a "back room" for quickies? Oh, no, no, no....not my style....but that's just me. I say, if someone wants to be a slut, I'm not one to say anything. You wont hear a word out of me.

sounds like you already solved the problem, and need to tell him that unless he can make it cooler outside, that you're going to be in the booty shorts while mowing the lawn.

some things just aren't worth fighting over >.>

(even though this really isn't a fight at all

I have to say, some of the comments I'm getting a chuckle over.... what if I jump through my sprinkler system in the process.. would that make it a little more legit....LOL

I'll bet. I imagine they thought you did the whole thing too quickly, too.

just keep doing what you want, as long as you're not blatantly sexual in front of the kids, the neighbours will eventually just come to accept your idiosyncracies - some will even like that you're a show off ;^)

but c'mon - its not about evening out your tan - you can do that when you're not mowing the lawn. i find it ironic when exhibitionists feel the need to justify the fact that they are exhibitionists, with rationalizations that its so hot outside or i don't want a farmer tan, or curtains are blocking their view of the sky, or fishnet mesh is simply a very breathable fabric. just tell your partner that you get off on the stares you get from the neighbours, and if it isn't hurting anyone, then whats the problem?

I really do NOT see the problem with your proposed grass cuting attire.

As hot as it has been this summer; why wear anymore clothing than you have to; clothing that would become sweat saked, heavy, chafing and uncomfortable?

There's a LOT of uptight (or perhaps the correct adjective is envious?) peeps out there in the world; much less on this site.
