Inspired by this post because I thought we could use some more positive energy around here haha.

What is the absolute best, most powerful or beautiful thing a man has ever said to you?

One of the best things a guy ever said to me was the following exchange between me and what was, at the time, a somewhat casual friend.

    Him: I love you, Larkin.
Me: Why would you say that?
Him: Because you don't hear it enough.

Not while I'm in college! I am completely not open to the idea of a relationship until after I'm established.

I've received some very nice compliments from fellow RJers. Some were said privately, so I won't repeat them. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who often doesn't take a compliment at face value. I've probably forgotten some of the nice things said about me because I dismissed them.

    I would think so. icon_wink.gif

"Some were said privately, so I won't repeat them.."

Discretion as they say, being the better part of valor, that's discrete.

"Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who often doesn't take a compliment at face value."

Uh oh, suppose some of those compliments are accurate? Eeep!

"I've probably forgotten some of the nice things said about me because I dismissed them."

    Then don't dismiss them.

I'm better now than I used to be, but I probably have some work to do still.

I suppose the first time a guy told me he loved me and I believed him would count. Sadly, I didn't return his feelings, so that memory is kind of tainted.

Yeah, I know, but there was always that hope that the first time someone said it to me, I'd want to say it back, all romantical-like. Instead it was sweet, but really awkward.

Which, of course, is entirely normal. That hope is delightful but not entirely practical in terms of hitting it off so magically the first time a romantic bond happens. They can be and sometimes are, for many people, one sided. It can only happen when you're both there.
For me, the more people I met and got to know, the more possibility and probability went up.

    And then....

What can I say? I'm a hopeless romantic. Or maybe I've watched too many movies.
