This is really cool...Not that it is any big surprise to many here, but it is a significant figure nationally to the general public who was probably oblivious until now. Very brave of Anderson to help put a face on the gay community.

No worries. I suspect there will be at least 15 different threads created by lunchtime!

I think so, too. Pretty nice news, whether it was widely suspected or not.

Nor did I see endo's thread, to which I've now posted.

But yours was the first I saw, and so thank you for letting us know, too. icon_biggrin.gif

It will be interesting if he does some interview shows like say "Piers Morgan" to expand on what he said in The Daily Beast. He may not want to elaborate much more than he already has, which I think should be respected if that is the case. As he pointed out, he is not an activist, nor should he have to be.

Some of the Twitter reactions are amusing me:

"I already knew Anderson Cooper was gray."

"Now I don't feel so weird masturbating to Anderson Cooper all these years."

"Anderson Cooper comes out on a blog, because if he did it on CNN, no one would notice."

"CNN reports: Anderson Cooper Comes Out As Straight"

Bill and I think one of the most powerful aspects of this is that he represents an extremely large number of gay men that are not an extreme in any direction. No uber masculine or feminine extreme which the media loves to entice and polarize viewers with, presenting the notion that 'all gay people are like this'.

Agreed, I think this could prove one of the more significant examples of a celebrity coming out. Many kids also look up to Anderson Cooper, and he has been a champion for gay causes for many years. He is a role model that represents the community well who we can be proud of.

He's the son of Gloria Vanderbilt. THE Vanderbilts. He knows more about upper class style than the rest of us can ever imagine. As in Old Money, not the overnight wealth of dot-coms and other upstarts, who are as crude and crass as they are rich.

No, Anderson Cooper is the epitome of class. And he just proved it once again. I'm so glad he's now officially on our team. icon_biggrin.gif

Anderson, what have you done? Isn't it better to keep that kind of news to ourselves? I don't know man - - this could get ugly............. What's your mom gonna say?

Seriously.........great to have one more bright guy on our team. It will help our cause for the general public to see more and more of us in all walks of life.

Suffice to say that Anderson Cooper has come out in a "classy way --- low key, but effective. Hopefully, he won't feel the need to pose for a PEOPLE magazine cover story with the headline "I'm Gay" like Clay Aiken did.

Why, do you find it embarrassing to acknowledge being gay?

Leave it to the stalker southbeach to pervert this thread into an Art_Deco bashing, his obsession. So typical, so tacky, so pathetic. icon_razz.gif
