I stepped on the scale naked at the gym today. I'm now weighing in at 159lbs. I've lost 6lbs.

What do you "hard gainers" out there do to keep weight on?

I guess the upside is that I'm easier to throw around the bed.

Which ones? Uranus has five of them: Miranda, Ariel, Umbriel, Titania, and Oberon.

But you can never be sure with scales if they are accurate, right?

Water weight fluctuates wildly throughout the day, plus some scales with mechanical parts are influenced by heat which differs between morning and lunch. There are too many variables at play to pay to much emphasis on one off weigh in's.

Shouldn't you mostly focus on measurements over weight as a better representation of size?

I celebrate every pound lost. I only weigh myself first thing in the morning after a cup of coffee and a bowel movement. If you're like me at the gym, I can drink a gallon of water in an hour and we know that weighs a couple of pounds.

I've found digital home scales to be accurate enough to require a uniform method for checking my progress.

I eat quarks with flavors now and then, very quick to eat, relatively good source of protein and doesn't really fill you up; like eating a yoghurt!

I can only assume you have these in the States as well?

It's been a while since I stepped on a scale and this one was a tri-beam scale at the gym. It might be the change in diet that I've had. I gave up wheat a little over a month ago.

I have a hard time keeping on weight too. When I'm in full cardio mode (swim, bike or run daily), it's hard to consume enough calories to offset what i'm burning. i eat 6-7x a day, taking in as much protein as possible. a can of tuna is a normal snack for me. beer helps too, lol!

If you've dropped carb sources and not replaced them could be a drop in water weight. But not a month later. Have you replaced the cals of the wheat products with another calorie source?

I'm a naturally skinny guy. If I don't watch my cals and stop working out I'll get skinny and not fat. In my case I've realized that I tend to loose weight if I don't keep up with the cals on off days.

I started losing weight quickly after going gluten free. I started losing too much, too quickly, so I got a little scared and added a bit of wheat back, but not completely.

I'm sure you look great, A.

yeah, I had to replace my wheat calories/carbs with other kinds quickly or I felt like I wasn't gaining anything and I felt like crap (no energy).

If only it were as easy as sending it Western Union. Many Americans could fatten up at least 5 other malnourished people if they gave up their extra fat.

Scales are so inaccurate. You need to sit on my thighs and I'll bounce you up and down a few times to give you an accurate number. You'll need to naked to not factor in the weight of the clothes. Pay no attention to the probing stiffness underneath.

Probably just water loss in this heat.
