So yesterday, I'm edging the lawn...and my dad comes outside to see how things are shaping up. Before going back in the house he asks "so are you straight?" (Meaning...are you ok...do you need anything). I replied "no," laughed a bit in my head, then said that I needed some water. In my mind, I was responding to his question but in a different sense than what he was thinking.

Ok sorry, I thought it was hilarious. Adios.

Me: Mom, you know that guy I've been hanging out with?

    Mom: Oh yeah ..

Me: Well he is my boyfriend!

Mom: [silence] so .. are you gay?

That is funny but I have to tell you, if my son was edging the lawn and he told me he was sucking weenies, I wouldn't even respond until he was done edging. Anytime I can get my kids to edge, there ain't anything going to distract them from doing that! LOL Your dad is a wise man! He probably got it and thought, nope.. not taking the bait, not until this lawn is edged! LOL

Perhaps it was your dad who was asking with a double meaning in mind and you who didn't pick up on it. Ever think about that?

Hahaha yeah that's why I answered like that. Especially being that my dad never tries to be that "young" with his questioning. Lol.

I used that a lot in my high school days.

Mom" "Why do need to stay out at a rave party all night?"

Me: (Sarcastically) "Cuz I want to take a lot of drugs and dance all night! Geesh!"

Except in those days, I truly wasn't being sarcastic. Alas....don't regret it, but how I've grown.

I came out over a period of 4 months... Rough times. But We're all a big happy family again.

Next thing is bringing a boy home to meet them.
