I am soon running a rugged mountain race(35km) with an elevation gain of 1350m.

A hydration pack is mandatory so bought one and the stupid thing bounces. Mine just has a chest strap. I'll go crazy having to run with this thing.

Has anyone tried the packs with chest and waist belts? Did this aleviate bouncing?

Get what looks to be the best choice, probably one with two belts, but enough flexibility to not restrict you, from an outfit that will guarantee a refund if not satisfactory. REI will definitely do that.

Try these from CamelBak for running:

They offer a number of different styles for runners, including simple fanny packs. This lumbar version is supposed to be very stable with a waist belt and 2 chest straps, and has good capacity.
