    Yes - this is true.

The Repubs promised to "focus like a laser beam" on creating "jobs jobs jobs" all throughout the 2010 election.

If the Repubs are going to claim that President Obama should be removed from office because job creation isn't strong enough - then that same rationale must be applied to every Repub who was elected two years ago on the promise to create jobs.

If President Obama doesn't deserve to be reelected because we're seeing mild job growth rather than strong job growth - then every Repub who was elected in 2010 doesn't deserve to be reelected either.

In fact the deliberate attempt that's been made by the Repubs in Congress to stymie job growth should spur their removal from office.

Heather's sole complaint is the Republicans resist more stimulus spending. She neglects to mention the role of EPA regulations as well as Obamacare uncertainties and projected costs as limiting growth. She also neglects to mention the past record of the same stimulus in creating jobs. Depending upon the assumptions in doing the math, each of the relatively few jobs in the past stimulus cost between $200,000 and $1,000,000 plus. She also neglects to mention Obama's own words that the shovel-ready jobs weren't so shovel-ready. She also neglects to point out why doing son-of-stimulus would be any different than the original stimulus. She also neglects to point out the likelihood that the son-of-stimulus was never taken seriously or intended to get through Congress. It was only proposed so the Democrats could make the exact point she is making. She also neglects to point out that the Republicans have proposed in the House a budget designed to reduce the deficit which would ultimately help the economy, but the Democrats have put nothing on the table, and that Obama's budget got no support in Congress from either party.

ADDED: She also neglected to mention the Democrats who also opposed son-of-stimulus, but Obama also forgot to mention them as well.

Outside of those few omissions, a great article.

God forbid that the Repubs succeed in getting their anti-growth job-killing austerity policies passed.

The US is doing much better than the countries that have embraced right- wing austerity policies.

The UK conservatives implemented harsh austerity measures and their economy has now slipped into a bitter double dip recession and unemployment has skyrocketed.

Ramming through painful austerity measures as the Repubs propose to do has a chilling effect on economic growth and job creation.

If the Repubs lived in the real world and opened their eyes to the facts of the historical record (rather than passively accepting right-wing dogma and propaganda) they'd know better than to suggest implementing the failed European austerity measures here in the US.
