So, It's been less than a week since I signed up to this site and have to say that I am very glad I did.

I used to have a terrible image of gay people and, living in Colombia, the only gay men I had ever seen were definitely not the kind of people I could possible identify myself with.

I started feeling very depressed because I felt abnormal (still do at some extent and have to work that out) but now that I see that there are plenty of normal men with normal (or extraordinary) goals in life and a positive, healthy attitude towards life, I have started to feel somewhat relieved. Perhaps having to be gay isn't necessary the end of the world and if it hadn't been for RJ.com, I wouldn't have known.

Well, just wanted to say thank you to you all who participate decently on this site!

All the best from Colombia, perhaps one day I'll be able to come out and be a good influence on others like many of you have been on me.

Isnt it the other way around? A south american living in Germany. Which really confuses me, cuz he can be openly gay in Germany.

He says, "All the best from Columbia," and his RJ name is German for "a German from Columbia."

I must say this site has inspired me in a lot of ways, too, including bringing me to the amazing man I share my life with. icon_biggrin.gif

Oh I was interpreting his name to mean that he is a german now, but originally from Columbia

His profile seems to imply this...

    First location: Nürnberg, Bayern, Germany

    Second location: Munich, Bayern, Germany

Travel location: New York, New York, United States

    Good analysis icon_wink.gif
I am Colombian and I am not of German descent, only Italian and Spanish and well, latino off course.
I lived in Germany for 1.5 years and it felt great being there, I had the time of my life and met great people, that's why I feel a little German inside (that explains my nickname).

I am glad to hear the site has helped many other people, I don't think I will ever be brave enough to be with another man like Bunjamon but I'm so happy to see society as a whole is moving towards the acceptance (or better yet, the "not caring") of not straight people.

Great to hear you happy sharing you life with another man.

All the best from Colombia (an I mean it!)

ps. It's ColOmbia, not ColUmbia icon_rolleyes.gificon_cool.gif

    Hey GreenHoper,

well I live in a very conservative circle (I am consider myself very conservative too). Perhaps those people you know just don't care or live in places where other people don't care either but, in any case, being gay in Colombia is definitely a handicap (sorry for putting it that way).

I initially had my "First location" set to Bogotá but then I realized that people can look for members in specific cities so I changed it to Nürnberg (one of the cities I lived while I was in Germany) to minimize the risk of being caught icon_rolleyes.gif

But you are right, I am Colombian but I love Germany because I had a great time there and people were unexpectedly kind to me so I feel a little German inside : )

I guess my accent is far more latin than German, but that was funny anyway.

I feel the same way in many ways, though it saddens me to hear you say that you think you will "never be brave enough to be with another man." Give it a try, you might like it. ;-)

If Colombia being conservative is the issue, have you considered moving, like to Deutschland?
