Yeah there is definitely quite a bit of coverage and conversation going on about this. Tim used to work at the club my bro works at.
I hope that the families and everyone that was there gets help, that's a horrible thing to deal with.

What the hell? Who would ever expect a random stabbing and beheading on a greyhound bus? This is just so disturbing. Any news on the suspect or a motive (other than he's just plain crazy)?

It gets worse - apparently the killer 'defiled' the body after beheading him (as if beheading isn't defiling it enough). I even read there was some cannibalism involved.

Very disturbing stuff.. like out of a horror movie. I think random acts of violence like that are definitely the most terrifying.

It was a very sad and appalling story! However the "killer" was mentally unstable, so ANYTHING could have happened! Very gruesome!

A slight silver lining is that at least he wasn't carrying an AK-47!

Sedative, I would be more worried about travelling on a ferry in the Philippines then being beheaded by a psychopath. This is an incident resulting from (likely) a very disturbed and unstable man. Unprovoked attacks like this are very rare and virtually impossible to prevent. It could have been anybody else besides Tim McLean. He was just incredibly unlucky.

LOL yeah. Ferries here suck and have killed more people than plane crashes.

But... meh... you still can't shake that feeling that what if somebody else saw this and something clicked inside his head or something?

Wow, this is just so tragic. I couldn't imgaine what it would have been like to be a passenger on that bus.

Sedative, psychopaths usually are not this random in their actions. They plan things out (e.g. serial killers). I personally suspect this guy was a paranoid schizophrenic that was going through a psychotic episode. He probably thought his neighbour was the devil tempting him, or was hearing voices in his head that told him to kill the guy. Schizophrenia is a terrible disease if left untreated.

In University I had a schizophrenic in my English class. As the year went on he deteriorated (he always had an obsession with religion and it became more pronounced, very common with schizophrenics due to the role Dopamine seems to play) and his behaviour became more bizarre. Finally they banned him from the class because he started phoning the Prof and threatened to kill her.
