Is it common to get fake e-mails in your inbox here from fake accounts?

And, if so, what purpose do they serve?

I got a creepy one from some guy who just joined the site today. In which he professes his love for me and says that he's looking for Mr. Right. He says he'll be in the States in a few weeks and that he is looking to strike up a life-long romance before he jets to Hawaii. Or something. Barf.

I'm not judging this person if this is real -- some people are just really forward. Of course, this forwardness will make me run away at a brisk pace, but to each his own.

It's also written in verbal diarrhea.

    I think it's a hoax. I hope it's a hoax.

You mean he is actually coming to the US? Wow, usually they just want you to "get to know them" online so you can sponsor them or send them money or something. I have received these emails on every dating/profile site I have ever belonged to. Usually shortly after joining, although sometimes I get notices from sites I forgot I joined.
It is a scam to get you to send money or sponsor them for immigration. Or in Canada to marry them.

Dude, this guy wants LONG-TERM COMMITMENT. And now!

Thanks, though. I was somewhat duped by this admittedly.

I got this a lot. Guys seeing my torso and say that they loved me. I dont know what that was about. I would usually just tell them, thank you....but they couldnt love me because they dont know me.
