There was a net decline of 406,000 in the number of Americans age 25 or older with a bachelor’s degree or higher who were working in the United States in June, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

A net of 309,000 in this demographic simply dropped out of the labor force, which means they neither had a job in June nor actively tried to find one, according to BLS.

The number of Americans age 25 or older with a bachelor’s degree or higher who were “unemployed”—meaning they did not have a job but did actively try to find one—increased by 96,000 in June.

According to the new seasonally adjusted numbers that BLS released on Friday, there were 46,355,000 Americans age 25 or older with a bachelor’s degree or higher who held jobs in May. In June, that number fell to 45,949,000—a decline of 406,000.

In May, according to BLS, there had been 48,232,000 Americans with a bachelor’s degree or higher who were in the “labor force”—meaning that they either had a job or were actively seeking one. However, in June, that number fell to 47,923,000—meaning a net of 309,000 college-educated Americans age 25 or older had left the labor force in and were no longer even seeking a job.

    AMEN TO THAT GQ !!!

All these current Republican Congressmen can come up with is more tax cuts for the rich, YOU KNOW !!!! THOSE JOB CREATORS THAT DIDN"T CREAT JOBS DURING BUSH YEARS OF TAX CUTS ?

The republicans want to keep that up in opposition to Obama's efforts that have been much more successful that Bushes were. BUT LETS NOT CONFUSE REPUBLICANS WITH FACTS. They'll only see facts when they believe them.

Come to think of it Obama's jobs numbers have overall improved in spite of all the efforts from the Party of No to bring about Obama's 'WATERLOO".

Reagan did nothing to recover the economy, it just so happened the oil shortages of the 70s went away in the late 70s/ early 80s, prices went down and Reagan was giving a economy that was going into recovery.. This economy is basically going through the same thing.. As long as gas prices stay high, the economy is not going to recover no matter who is the president.. I admit they are a bit down from what they were 6 months ago, but it's not enough, and plus something will come up again to raise them up to $4/$5 within the end of the year or early next year.. It always happens.. Electric cars are still tooo much and plus the technology is not fully developed yet enough for the average Joe to buy one.. We will be stuck in this economy probably for another 10 years unless we see gas prices go down to around $2.50 or under..

Giving tax cuts to the rich is NOT going to create jobs, (we already saw this) taking away their tax cuts is NOT going to hurt the economy.. They are pocketing their tax cuts and/or buying toys like another Mercedes Bens, another mansion etc. Businesses expand when they see more $$$ in their registers..
