Long story short, got too drunk, threw my iPhone 4 at a friend and now the screen is black. It makes the chime when plugged into a computer, receives calls(blind slide to unlock) and vibrates when i switch the switch.

    any help would be great

Take it to the Apple store. They'll give you a new one.

Try removing the sym card and just putting it back in. Throwing it may have just unseated the card a bit.

When you got your phone, there is a little "pin" for opening the sym card slot. iphonepin.jpg

You hold the pin by the loop and stick the pin part into the little hole on the side of your phone. The tray holding the sym card will pop out.

Just shake the card out into your hand and then put it back in the tray.

    Slide the tray back in.

    Turn the phone on.

The connection between the screen and the board may have come undone.
Take it to the Apple store.
If it's just that, then it's a simple fix. Hopefully you didn't break anything...

Yep most likely the cables came off or worse case your LCD display is busted. Too bad it's the iPhone 4, its about an hour of work compared to 3g/3GS - 2 min

    1) Stop drinking so much

    2) Take Anger Management classes

    3) Make sure you have insurance on all future mechanical devices that can double as a weapon

You can buy repair kits for a new screen fairly inexpensively online and possibly repair it yourself. That voids any warranty that may still be on it.
