Some say its vain because of Hollywood others say its able bodied for service because of Darwin and the military. I think its able bodied.

Either hard work and dedication, or genetics, or (best case) both.

Depends on the attitude behind the physique, sometimes it is vanity and purely for show.

It's physical for me, I enjoy being active, and really enjoy working out, it's fun. Frequently working out is the only thing that makes me happy, as sad as that may be.

On the other side of it, I want to be able to be active as long as possible, and staying strong and fit will help me do that.

Since when does it 'represent' anything?
It's the product of a great many hours spent in a gym.

Represents strength, power and sexual desire for me. I've always been attracted to a muscular body and I strive to achieve one for myself.

It can be a healthy attention to one's well-being or it can be a neurotic ego-centric self-absorption, wearing a civil war hat

For most guys it is pure vanity and the desire to have a access to higher quality sexual partners.

For me, it has always been about health and maintenance of functional capacity as much as possible through the aging process. This is why I do more neuromuscular sorts of workouts rather than inflammatory/hypertrophy types. Both have their place.

Sure, that's why you have shirtless pics up on RJ. For your health and the maintenance of your functional capacity.

Oooo, snap.
I get so tired of this mythologizing of body parts.
What does a snazzy pancreas say to you?
What is the message of a superbly-functioning liver?
What are the effects of a truly toned endocrine system on world events?

Christ, it's just fucking body parts. Some wish to spend the majority of their free time endlessly honing theirs, Others prefer to devote a little part of each day to stamp collecting.

Jeez.

Well, I guess you showed me. ;-)

For most people, the pancreas, liver and endocrine system aren't terribly sexualized body parts. Seriously, you want gay men on a "fitness" website to stop ogling each other when they're particularly well put together? That means no more photo comments on guys you think are adorable.

Actually if I didn't have my physique, I'd look like a fraud with my degrees.

I draw the line at hypertrophied nostrils.

Did you know that "thrill" originally meant to pierce? And still exists in that original meaning in the word 'nostril,' nose-piercing.

I'm not sure how you would do that, but what I am sure of is that in this very big world there are folks who are into it.

It means a desire, drive, and access to resources to be the most physically optimal human being.

No of course not. I ogle as shamelessly as anyone.
I just don't try to gussy up my ogling with significance beyond the tingling sensations.
