So I was jsut browsing around and somehow ran across ab throwdowns on the net. I've never heard of this before but saw a video on a site of how it's done. It looks like it would be a pretty awesome ab workout. I was just wondering if anyone here has ever tried it. Even if you didn't have someone to assist with it, even the basic concept of it would be pretty good wouldn't it?

Btw, this is the video I was talking about...

Oh, sure, that's easy for them to do. They arent packing the junk between their legs. I know I could never get my heels together like that. ... icon_idea.gificon_wink.gif

oh yeah...definitely...that's a popular abercise (ha) here at my school's gym.

I've also seen some people on this website state that that is how they helped develop a defined adonis belt

I do this thing where I lay on my bench and hold on to the bars behind with my butt on the edge and raise and lower my legs... I don't know if there's a name for that, probably, but I think i'd be better off doing that then this, huh? If I don't have that other person there to help me I mean becuase I prefer to workout alone I can concentrate better.

muchmorethanmuscle saidThe muscle that is getting the brunt of the work is called the Iliopsoas muscle. Here is a diagram.

    page1_blog_entry313_1.jpg

This muscle is responsible for flexing the legs toward the torso or vice versa. This muscle when over developed can put undo stress on the lower back and can cause serious back pain. As a personal trainer and a professionally trained massage therapist I highly discourage this exercise. To work the abs you should do crunches. Or twists to work the obliques.

When you perform traditional sit-ups this same muscle is the muscle that takes on the majority of the work and not the abdominals.

I don't think this was clear enough for me. I think you should film a video explaing it further icon_razz.gif

Wow thanks man awesome that explains why my back hurts when I do it then. There's no better way to outright answer a question and give a recomendation than you just did. Thanks!!!
