What Sells?

I had a very interesting conversation this AM with a group that is looking to find products tha sell well in our current economy. As part of that conversation we all generally agreed that America is a nation that is declining across a broad range of metrics, one of those being personal disposable income.

The challenge becomes what products will individuals or familes purchase as their resources diminish and transfer of payments from those who earn progressively more income diminish due to resistence to overt wealth redistribution. (Bring down the income, the taxes fall.)

As society declines certain portions of society grow in numbers. Someone made the comment that the group that was growing did three things: "they do drugs, they copulate, and they kill each other."

There may very well be good reason for single-payer insurance not related to the "goodness" that Liberals so much want to express with someone else's money. Pregnancy and gun shot wounds require medical care. Drugs lead to behavior that typically also results in someone somewhere needing medical care. The lead business is good, except in regions of California that are "lead-free" because bullets must be formed.

Then, we all know that if these people are going to kill, their tool of choice is the handgun. The expensive models are sold to those who do not desire to be killed by those who seem to take killing on as a natural expression of life. These of course are often stolen, so replacements sell well. Then the cheap models can go to the group of preferred patrons on their first purchase (we assume from thereafter they will carry a felony conviction and always have to steal decent guns.)

Another area of growth is the education "industry" both public and private. This industry grows primarily due to unionization and student loans. It is a tough market in which to make a buck as an investor. Take for instance creating valid exams to sell to schools. When your largest group of attendees slow down drugging, screwing, and killing, the teachers have the anwers you provide and fake the test scores anyway. As long as business is required to hire a few of these ill trained individuals, there is little profit to be made.

Perhaps some time later today I'll move this over to my blog where I can continue ways to make money in America's ever declining future. (Oh, I forget to add making high-strength toilet seats is also a good deal as those who are now home 24/7 eat like crazy.)

And now we know what happened when Milledgeville State Mental Hospital closed its doors and released its last patient.
