Deleting your posts

I see posts quickly appear and then vanish all the time, usually cuz guys have though better about what they were about to say.

I do this sometimes, and I often delete posts on the G.A.Y. threads when 4 or 5 people have already replied in the 30 seconds it took me to tap out a reply and hit submit.

How often do you delete a post that you've made?

I have a couple of times, just because what I posted was stupid and sometimes I think guys don't get my sense of humor. But, if someone quotes your post, doesn't that still show up?
And, showing my ignorance, what is a G.A.Y. thread? Seen this mentioned a couple of times.

Guy Above You - and yes, if they quote you, your words are there even if you delete them.

Geez, I should have been able to figure that out - damn meds. I was thinking "aren't they all gay threads?"

Actually, I think it's kinda funny when I post to a G.A.Y. thread and another guy beats me to it.

sometimes, like when you reply to someones post early in the thread but as you continue to read and you see that someone else already called him an arrogant douchey asshole, I feel like my comment would just be overkill.

plus, sometimes my sense of humor often even escapes me and goes over my own head...

I wish there were a mass editing function that allowed you to delete all your posts.

Only when I realize I fucked up the quote and have to redo my post because I'm too dumb to figure out how to fix my quote fuck up directly.

    Guilty.

I've deleted a couple lately that may have incited a shit storm that I didn't feel like entering.

Sometimes I go back and edit. Sometimes I correct another poster's grammar when I quote him, but that's just my OCD kicking in.

    Rarely.

If you`re honest, sincere, and polite, there`s little reason to remove them.

I more usually edit mid post, remembering what other guys have posted.

I edit all the time just after posting if I see misspellings, grammatical errors or HTML problems. Other than the G.A.Y. stupidity, I've deleted completely only a couple of times when I lashed out and then immediately decided not to.

    To the OP,
About three days ago I posted a header post on how I miss ex-RJ member FierceEyes. While I was typing, I had to switch to my own profile to get a reference, that is, which year I joined RJ.

When I returned to the box and found it empty, I decided to start again, believing that the original was lost.

After submitting, both posters showed up in the column of theads. The one which you replied to was deleted by admin. A shame, because that one also had a much greater number of viewers.

As for FierceEyes, chances are that he is still on RJ, but has hidden his profile. If he has gone for good, all I can do is wish him well for his future. That was the object of the original poster.

^ I wasn't really thinking of this - there was some other random post that disappeared today while I was replying to it. But thanks for the explanation.

I think I only deleted 1 post. It was a reply to one of those Reaper threads. I was the only one who responded, so to save face I deleted my post.

I have that problem. After posting something I only meant to be funny, I sometimes look back and see it could have been taken as being mean. I don't use a lot of icon_lol.gif or icon_biggrin.gif or icon_razz.gif in my posts.
And yes, those seem to be the posts that get quoted and so you're stuck with it.

It's very rare that I delete a post. Usually, it's in a G.A.Y. when my post is intended for someone else. Once in a while, I'll try to say something funny, but once I see it posted, I realize it doesn't come across the way that I intended.

I will also go back and fix posts if I made an error or the HTML was screwed up. Sometimes, someone has already quoted my mistake, so I don't bother.

I don't delete things out of regret. I feel like if I said it, it's permanent in someone's memory so deleting it won't change anything, and I had best own it.

I would delete something that was like an aside, and once sorted out I'd remove my post, since it doesn't affect the rest of the conversation.

I admit I have deleted a post once because it was at the bottom of the page, so I made the person who posted after me take that spot and put mine on top of the next page. hahah v is for vanity.icon_lol.gif

The only time I can remember is when me and Chainers were going back and forth on a thread (staying on topic )and the OP got mad. So I deleted every post I made on it (as did Chainers) and the thread went to the graveyard.
