Is this the most embarrassing ad in political history?

Admittedly, Mitt Romney was asking for it. As soon as he launched into a pitchy and toe-curling rendition of America the Beautiful in a retirement village in Florida back in January, you knew he'd come to regret his decision to sing.

The Obama campaign has kept the footage on ice, until now.

Last night Romney embarked on a five-network televised crusade for an apology over the accusations made about his time at Bain Capital, where he may or may not have made millions of dollars by sending American jobs overseas.

Somebody in Chicago had a cruel flash of inspiration, and this incredibly awkward commercial was born:

In the coming weeks the ad will have television viewers hiding behind their sofa cushions in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Romney told Americans to look at his experience at Bain as proof of him being better on the economy. He also boasted about his creation of 100,000 jobs, during the disputed period. That turned out to be a bad idea. Now he wants Obama to apologize for using the Bain off shoring of jobs against him. Please, if the shoe was on the other foot, do you really think that would happen?

Oh poor Mitt Flop! How are you going to flip out of this one?

The Karl Rove strategy of taking your opponents biggest strength and making it a weakness is coming back to bite them.

Not like Obama had to work very hard at it, Gingrich, Santorum, Perry, et al, did all the work earlier this year.

Oh dear, poor Mr. Romney.....The perfect contradiction....

Didn`t something similar happen to John Kerry in 2004 when Bush`s supporters attacked his military service?

    Yup.
    The Swift Boat ads.

John Kerry's weak ineffectual response to the harsh Swift Boat ads made him look like a pussy who was unfit to be commander in chief.

Romney's weak ineffectual response to Baingate has revealed Romney to be a pussy who is unfit to be commander in chief.
His whiny repeated requests for apologies are just pathetic.

Kerry's war hero record was supposed to be the strength that Kerry would run on in 2004 - but the Repubs went after Kerry's supposed strength and turned it into a weakness.

Romney's Bain record was supposed to be the strength that Romney was going to run on this year - but the Dems have gone after Romney's supposed strength and turned it into a weakness.

    Sweet.

This is where we disagree - I think Romney has actually had a very, very STRONG response to all of these Bain ads...Unfortunately, his strong responses have all ended up being lies and are digging himself a deeper hole. He's trying so hard to distance himself from Bain's less than lovable policies that made himself so much money while grasping on to Bain's successes to paint himself as an excellent and moral businessman.

    He's his own worst enemy.

I haven't gotten an impression of strength from Romney with his response.
He's struck me as whiny thin-skinned and defensive.

When you're coming across as defensive - you don't come across as strong or proactive.
You come across as weak and under attack.

But I do agree that Romney's response has been very foolish.
As you say - he's dug himself in deeper - and when more evidence is uncovered of the fact that he was involved in making management decisions at Bain after 1999 - his latest comments will be revealed as just more lies.

Romney is not only his own worst enemy - he's a horrible representative for the Repub party - and is the Repub party's worst enemy for campaign 2012 too.

BTW - thanks for posting this vid.
    It's hilarious!

Karl "Turd Blossom" Rove was whining today about how the Obama campaign is playing "gutter politics".
    LMFAO
    What an unbelievable hypocrite.
Rove's record is one of taking gutter politics to new depths.

Guess what, Turd Blossom - turnabout is fair play!
The Dems are just using your strategy of attacking an opponent's strength and you don't like it.

My take on all of this silliness is that 75% of the country is STILL not paying much attention to this election, nor will they, until a V.P. is chosen by Romney and the debates really kick the campaign into overdrive. I have a hunch that the majority of people couldn't give a flying fig about Bain Capital, or Romney's involvement in it, anymore than people cared in 2008 for the church that Obama went to or his less than impressive background prior to politics that was mostly as a community organizer. My point is, none of this extraneous stuff is going to matter a hill of beans come November. It's all going to be about the economy and which candidate Americans most feel is suited to take us into the next 4 years. Most experts agree that, at this point, this election is up for grabs.

Brilliant! Three and a half more months of clean, succinct countertrolls from Team Obama against the callow waffling of Mittens and his ilk.

I should feel guilty about my feelings of Schadenfreude.

    I should, but I don't. Muahahahahahaha! icon_twisted.gificon_twisted.gificon_twisted.gif

    LOL
Romney's record at Bain is NOT "extraneous stuff".
It's the CENTERPIECE of his campaign - and it's what he's based his qualification to be president on.
It's very much relevent and very much fair game - and what Romney did at Bain will be used against him over and over again between now and November to prove that Mitt Romney is not the solution - he's the problem.

    Is the election tomorrow?
I once had a terrible lover who came to quickly, but he was convinced he was a really good lover. Funny how people can confuse themselves.
Barack, don't blow your load all over Mitt and his super pacs face when you have plenty of ftime left to tuck them in the ass.

I seem to remember that the Swift Boat ads that defined John Kerry early on in campaign 2004 started airing at the end of July.
Defining your opponent early on is not a bad thing - its a good thing.
Plus I've heard that there's plenty more Bain stuff yet to be revealed.

BTW - just because someone blows their wad fairly quickly at the beginning of a sexual encounter - that doesn't mean the encounter is over.
Getting sucked off and cumming can take the edge off and allow for a long hard fuck not long after.
Mitts ass is still going to get fucked.

The brilliant thing about this ad is that it reminds people that when Romney crows about his "success" in business, he means he successfully enriched himself by screwing over American workers and shipping their jobs overseas, and bankrupting entire companies. Romney has never made anything of value -- his "business" is financial engineering that harms many to enrich a very few.

As more people are being made aware of this, Mitt's chances of winning are rapidly sinking.

Even conservative pundit George Will admitted today on ABC that Mitt is "losing badly."

My pleasure. It makes me chuckle every time I see it. It is so simple yet so cleverly done. For example, Romney's voice changes to telephone mode when they show the caption about his outsourcing jobs while Governor (i.e. State call centre jobs farmed out to India).

I would be amazed if it did not pick up an ad industry award.

The "You're So Bain" YouTube video with new lyrics to the Carly Simon classic is also hilarious and devastating.
