Keeping it recently, lets say from the last two-three years. What song are you soooo tired of?

    Mine...

"Hey there Delilha" Plain White T's

damn, move on to the next cut from the CD already - I hate her and I don't even know her.

"Hey There Delilah" I still like but it has been played too much. I got really sick of hearing "Low" by Flo Rida, and "Touch My Body" by Mariah Carey I didn't like after the first listen, so after that it was pure torture.

That Cupid's Chokehold song by Gym Class Heroes that liberally samples Supertramp. It comes on EVERY TIME I'M AT THE GYM.

And it's so loud I can't help but hear it over the iPod. Gah!

    Make it stop, please!

Some song about riding a bicycle with no handlebars. How this appealed to enough people to be rewarded with heavy rotation is beyond me.

'Lollipop' by Lil Wayne needs to be licked out of existence. In fact, Wil Wayne needs to be, too.

Oh, and if I never hear Soulja Boy again, that'd be okay.

I have this scary feeling that someday we'll look back at Soulja Boy as the Chubby Checker of our lifetimes. All his songs are basically the same song on the same topic.

I just tried to look up the lyrics to Crank Dat Soulja Boy and it's hilarious. It's not just me, nobody knows what the hell he's saying. Crank dat hoe? Watch me robocop? It's like the ramblings of a lunatic. Yet strangely not that far from "Let's twist again, like we did last summer."

    Yike.

An interesting aside on nonsensical lyrics: an interviewer once asked Per Gessle of Roxette what was up with the lyrics to their huge late-eighties hit 'The Look' -- "walking like a man/hitting like a hammer/she's a juvenile scam/never was a quitter". Turns out the nonsensical lines were guide lyrics, meant to be rhythmic place-holders until he could come up with proper lyrics. He just never came up with proper lyrics, and they stuck. Just goes to show that music is so much more than its individual components, huh?

Edit: and kryptonic, I nearly destroyed my car stereo every time 'This is Why I'm Hot' came on. Seriously.

Yesterday my trainer told me the gym isn't don't well financially. I told him that the fact that they play "See You Again" by Miley Cyrus every hour keeps people away. I don't get it. I don't think they let kids in the gym so why would they play music for tweens?

Great, now I have that song stuck in my head. I'm not sure if that's any better than having "Tammy" stuck in my head yesterday thanks to Caslon's "what's the earliest song you remember" thread.

Don't be so harsh on Chubby Checker. "Let's Twist Again" won the grammy for best rock single in 1961. And I don't think "Limbo Rock" had anything to do with twisting. icon_smile.gif

My Way by Paul Anka/Frank Sinatra

I ABSOLUTELY LOATHE that song. It was very popular in Karaoke bars out here, usually sung by hopelessly off-key fat guys in their forties with horrible English.

The chorus is actually rendered out as "Aydideeet maaaaaai weeeeeeeeeee". icon_lol.gif

It waned after a news story featured a man who was shot to death after singing My Way for the umpteenth time. *sigh* icon_rolleyes.gif

    For real. icon_razz.gif
