Without any flavor, alcohol is nauseating. It is fun to be tipsy though.

My impression is that most people translate "don't like the taste but compared to other liquors, it's not bad" into the simple "it tastes good!".

I don't indulge in spirits often, but when I do, it's Ketel One.

As I aged, I started to aquire a taste for straight up whiskeys. I now quite enjoy a scotch neat, or a good Canadian rye neat. That being said, I still do not like American corn mash whiskeys. I am not a fan or Jack Daniels, Jim Beam etc

I love drinking wine but the harder stuff like vodka I drink just to get wasted. I mean it tastes like paint stripper on it's own.

Whisky is alright but I prefer it with a mixer ( much to my friend's dismay, apparently I am committing a major sin every time I pour coke into a glass of malt :lolicon_smile.gif

I honestly hate getting dunk but there is nothing more refreshing than either an ice cold beer or a gin and tonic on a hot summer's eve.

I love the taste of alcohol: wine, beer, a nice spirit. I also like a buzz, but I rarely drink to get drunk.

"The end result" is rather vague, LOL. Quite often, after work (at dinner) I drink a glass or two of wine to unwind and relax.

If you have issues with the taste, I would suggest taste testing until you find something you like.

Liquor, hard or not is loaded with fat. Bleh.
So I will have it maybe once or twice a year. Usually on my B-day or Thanksgiving.

The only hard liquor that I enjoy the taste of is gin. Straight up and room temp. One small glass is my limit.

Scotch, on the rocks, no mixers. My bf likes gin, and will only mix it with water.

Though I have friends who love Jagermeister, despite it tasting like cough syrup, all for the end effect.

If bourbon and scotch contained no alcohol and no calories, I'd drink them like some people drink iced tea or soft drinks. OK, maybe not that often as I would likely habituate to the taste and lose the enjoyment of savoring the rich complexity of the flavors. For me, the 'end result' is a nice added bonus, but I could easily do without it.
