Neo-Conned: Bush's War Turned Iraq Into Iran's Best Friend

""A new regime in Iraq would serve as a dramatic and inspiring example of freedom for other nations in the region," President George W. Bush told a crowd at the American Enterprise Institute in 2003, a few weeks before he launched the attack.

Ten bloody and grueling years later, Iraq is finally emerging from its ruins and establishing itself as a geopolitical player in the Middle East -- but not the way the neocons envisioned.

Though technically a democracy, Iraq's floundering government has degenerated into a tottering quasi-dictatorship. The costs of the war (more than $800 billion) and reconstruction (more than $50 billion) have been staggeringly high. And while Iraq is finally producing oil at pre-war levels, it is trying its best to drive oil prices as high as possible.

Most disturbing to many American foreign policy experts, however, is Iraq's extremely close relationship with Iran. Today, the country that was formerly Iran's deadliest rival is its strongest ally."

And the most disgusting part of all of this was to see the "left" turn stupid once their "man" was in the White House. Then, all of a sudden, silence from the anti-war folks. Democrats all of a sudden were pleased with "humanitarian bombs" dropping in Libya, and vast new increases of troops into the mid-east.

Torture was okay to continue, secret CIA prisons, domestic spying and the police state.

Why don't American's wake the hell up to what insider Caroll Quigley stated in his book that the Establishment sought to destroy (and actually did destroy the press plates) but which now is everywhere to be found after it was printed on the black market for years:

QUOTE AUTHOR GOES HERE“The National parties and their presidential candidates, with the Eastern Establishment assiduously fostering the process behind the scenes, moved closer together and nearly met in the center with almost identical candidates and platforms, although the process was concealed as much as possible, by the revival of obsolescent or meaningless war cries and slogans (often going back to the Civil War). … The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can “throw the rascals out” at any election without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy. … Either party in office becomes in time corrupt, tired, unenterprising, and vigorless. Then it should be possible to replace it, every four years if necessary, by the other party, which will be none of these things but will still pursue, with new vigor, approximately the same basic policies.” [Carroll Quigley, Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time (New York: Macmillan, 1966), pp. 1247-1248.]

How unfortunate that most Americans can't see that Bush/Cheney is not anything different than Obama beyond some small window dressing token issues to keep the people bamboozled? How can people not see that Romney is united with Obama on every major policy issue, and even if not in rhetoric now, he had been before, and will be again once election cycles conclude.

Gary North termed this a non-choice between "CFR Team A vs CFR Team B" which stands for Council on Foreign Relations, and establishment candidates get in time and time again. What a joke.

THANK YOU !!!! THANK YOU and THANK YOU AGAIN !!!

You hit the nail on the head !!!! but just like I get for exposing the facts of the failure of these wars and the continuing of the same failed military adventurism, you will get silence, ignored and whatever else it takes the apologists to tamp down 'unsettleing' information that might shake up the status quo. The US has totally lost the moral high ground to promote 'our brand' of suppoed 'democracy', or human rights.

The failure of the military adventurism is as obvious as the nose on our faces, as is the fact that we are causing and increasing blowback 'terrorism' and then we sheeple blindly and happily send our children to pay with their lives for repeats of these totally failed military misadentures .

Have you noticed how the same run up to war is being enacted right now with Iran ? The same 'godamn' group that pushed for war with Iraq are at it again, but watch how this fact is ignored and derided by the apologists. But I'd say none of them will have to pay the price by going to some war themselves, nor do they have sons that could end up paying with their lives, because of their willfully blind following of the NeoCon warmongers within our government.
