Well we all know now it is only legal polygamy that you care about TBA and so it it once again has to be 'all about you' again.

The German government bans circumcision for no other reason than to discriminate against Jews and Muslims, and now this?

It appears Germany has fixed the Wayback Machine and is returning to the 1920's.

Germany has always been a little more conservative (or a lot more from 1933-1945) than their Western European neighbors. It's only a matter of time before it's passed. Germans (and Americans) just need to be patient, and continue to convince people to be on the right side of history.

Hopefully, the GLBT community in Germany can get needed rights under the term "civil union" since they cannot get them under the term "marriage."

    Argument:
Marriage should be restricted to a man and a woman because their union alone is capable of producing children ... fundamentally indissoluble union of man and woman.”

    Pro-Gay Marriage Counter Argument:
Not all men and women have children, more and more marriages end in divorce, and same-sex couples can also “have children,” thanks to advances in medical technology.

    My Argument:
    Exception is not equality
Using medical technology (not by using Nature) makes the exception somewhat possible.

    Go Pro Civil Union !

This again symbolise that german government do no bother about human sentiments or emotions. They love to whip and dictate on their people. How can they controll ones mode of expression. Its a direct attack on the human rights. With whom i will live and i will love, must not be controlled by an unhinged government. I am sorry to say they are bullying gay people.

the comment below the article is very true:

Germans actually have a very progressive stance on gay issues, and I guarantee that if they put this measure up to popular vote, Germans would vote in favor of it. Tbh, most Germans would probably think, “Don’t we have that already?” since a lot don’t quite understand the difference between Lebenspartnerschaften and marriage equality.
It’s just that the CDU has got the majority of the political power. And their base opposes gay marriage. The FDP must tag along since they are the coalition partners.

And please don't make unqualified comments such as :

'Damn, Germany is still under nazi rule.'

We are far from that. If you have been living here you knew

What a load of bull shit. Your original argument tacitly assumes christian theology - why should the ability to produce children be the qualification for having a state-recognised union? It´s irrational, based in religious morality, and therefore should not be allowed as the basis of an argument about the laws of a secular (non theocratic) nation.

Persoanlly, I think we just out law marriage and form a new instituition that works better. 50% failure is just not something that works.

Probably Pope Nazi from closet case international otherwise known as the Vatican had a hand in pressuring the German Parliament to reject the gay marriage proposal. You just never know.

Ok, here are some facts for the headless chickens of RJ:

Currently Germany has a conservative-libertarian ruling coalition from CDU(CSU) - FDP. CDU stands for Christian Democratic Union - how much progress do you guys expect in GLBT issues from a party with CHRISTIAN in its title? (Do you really think GLBT rights in the US will grow in leaps and bounds if Romney wins in November? hardly, right?)

The German constitution states that marriage is a union of one man and one woman. That paragraph has been in there since way before gay-liberation. To change the constitution in Germany you need a 2/3 majority in parliament.

Gays in Germany already have Civil Unions, granting most of the rights and obligations, but not all of them. So, if "Nazi"-Germany is light-years ahead of the US, what does this make the US? Bigoted States of Christianistan

No civil unions - separate is NOT equal in any way, shape or form.

Ummm... infant circumcision (or any medically unnecessary procedure in a child) should be illegal.

Cutting off pieces of kids just 'cause really shouldn't be acceptable. I'm assuming adult circumcision is still legal. (Laws against female circumcision are the norm in western countries. The latter is certainly more traumatic, but they're both unreasonable impositions on someone who can't choose for themself what parts of their body they want to keep.)

Oh please i think they banned it because it's an unnecessary form a mutilation, and why should religions be able to mutilate children's genitalia, just because it's traditional.; it's a barbaric practise that should be banned the world over. Let them come back as men and have it done.
