I find it so weird that guys in groups like bears (mentioned in Bear Week), twinks and muscle are into guys who look just the same. It seems kind of autoerotic to me, maybe narcissistic.

I watched a porno a loooong time ago with this twink and an older really chubby bear. The twink was groping his big, round belly while getting fucked. It wasn't arousing, but I did like the fact that the non-straight community apparently had a broad spectrum of guys who are into varied types of guys themselves.

Actually my impression is that it was more mixed in the past, and more recently similar looking guys go for each other.

For those who know about gay culture on this planet over the last few decades, is my impression right? And for the rest of you humons, is the thread title true of today?

I personally don't have an issue with bears or any sub-groups of the gay world.

My issue comes in when someone denotes anything that they deem to be less than their standard of masculinity as "less than" - in which case I will get defensive.

If manscaping and taking care of my appearance makes me less masculine in someones opinion...you can fuck yourself.

I think I get what your saying. I can't speak for anyone but myself but I find that my type of "gay sub-group" that I'd fall into is the last thing I'm attracted to.

    Maybe it's a self-esteem issue. I really can't say. icon_confused.gif

Yes, it appears as though similar looking guys go for each other more often than not.

People tend to hang out socially with their own kind. Thats a fairly universal human quality.

Sexual attraction tho? Not as much.

Gay guys (no matter the type) are freakier than the average guy. Think of any guy, for that matter think of any crazy shit, and there are plenty of guys out there into it.

Yeah but it seems like each type of guy who likes a crazy brand of shit goes for other guys who are into that crazy shit. Makes me think of tattooed guys and fetishists.

Could be that sex with friends, who they are similar to, happens and they grow to like it.

I rarely go after guys similar to me... but I do see the issue at hand a lot.

All the guys that I'm physically attracted to have one thing in common.. They have varying degrees of muscularity. So I like muscle bears, freaky huge bodybuilders, athletic guys, gym rats, etc.

But I'm probably the exception. Generally speaking, I do believe most guys tend to go for their own kind.

I'm hairy enough to be an otter but fabulous enough to be a twink.

Someone once told me that if I wanted to attract muscular guys, then I needed to have muscles. As disheartening as that may sound, my subsequent experiences have shown me this is true.

I notice a lot of guys chasing after people who seem out of their league, and they usually end up bitter from rejection. If you place high standards on physical beauty, then you need to take a hard look in the mirror and make sure you measure up to your own standards... and possibly make changes accordingly.

I think it would be good however for all of us to remember that changing your appearance is quick and easy compared to looking deep within and changing your personality. How you present yourself has as much to do with your mindset than hours spent at the gym.

I'm only attracted to guys who cook really good and wash dishes and take out the trash and have great abs and clean the house and take care of the yard.

When given a choice, people usually imitate one another.

I've always found this to be the case. Never saw it different in the past. I've said it a bazallion times and I'll say it again: Likes attract likes.

There are some that will go for something physically different e.g. taller/shorter, skinny/chub, hairy/smooth, different race ..etc.

But majority of the time you'll find the same type together.
    Jock hang with other jocks.
Pretty boys hang with other pretty boys.
Muscle queens with other muscle queens.
    Bears with bears.
    ...etc..

Several times I've seen couples that look so similar that at first glance they could be mistaken for brothers icon_eek.gif

My theory is that people are most comfortable with what they see in the mirror and gravitate towards that in others. So yes, Gays of a feather do fluck together!

I don't find it unusual ... I have always thought that if you want to meet a certain type of guy, then you should become that guy type .... example: How often do you see relationships where one guy is big a muscular and the other is a thin fem twink ... and when you do, usually the big muscular guy influences the thinner guy to become more muscular ... or they only last about 5 minutes in a relationship

Well, what is SO bad about being less masculine? I don't really know you, but would you really be that offended if someone thinks of you as less masculine? Wow.

I think that you look for people with same interests.

It make some sense that if you are a muscle man, you will be lloking for what you offer. It's not a rule, but how many muscular and fit blokes fancy fat men.
It's just a prefecerence situation, I think there is not a problem, you just hang out who wherever you want and feel comfortable with...

That's not what he meant. He meant he is offended by people who expect him to be more masculine.

I can speak to that a little. I was always a "daddy's boy" and went for older hairy guys, all my ex BFs fit that stereotype. Who did I fall in love with? A skinny hairless younger man. All of my porn is full of guys who look NOTHING like my husband. I fell in love with HIM, not the way he looks.

I still jack off to MenAtPlay, RagingStallion, etc.

That is understandable. Looks are like a resume. They will get you the interview. But It is personality that will get you the job.

I read your post in the other thread. You said that you called his number as you didn't recognize it or remember who gave it to you. Which then resulted in making a connection with the guy.

So here is the question: what if you did recognize the number how likely would you have been to call him given that you had a certain type in mind? Would you still have called out of curiosity?

Easy to find. They are called 'house-boys' icon_razz.gif
