I definitely don't feel like I missed out on anything by not joining the Scouts like a number of my friends did.

The Boy Scouts' anti-gay policy always seems so ironic to me... as I had one of my first gay experiences at Boy Scout camp jerking off in a tent at night with my bunkmate.

Aren't they a Christian group? If so, then I think it's pretty obvious why they have this decree.

The Girl Scouts will always be more popular, anyway.

Well now they will die a very slow death from attrition as the rest of the population views them as obsolete and a quasi-hate group

True. The Girl Scouts will always be loved for their cookies. All the Boy Scouts have is crappy, overpriced popcorn.

A lot of BSA troops are just used as extensions of churches, trying to keep a hold on teens. Some of them are really creepy and, it turns out, the main offenders in the sex abuse scandals. No surprises there. Some troops are more secular or don't have any particular axe to grind* and can be worthwhile for kids. Hard to have any great affection for the institution as a whole though.

*except of course for the axe and knife merit badge.

I somewhat agree and somewhat disagree. It's popular for Christians to hate on the gays...but is it right? I mean Jesus supposedly allowed Mary Magdalene to wash his feet and then you have the whole "Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast The First Stone" bit.

I dunno, Christians can be so contradictory, it's hard to keep up. icon_lol.gif

That's why they don't want gays. The horse dicks fill their massive ass holes much better.

Modern-day Christians are so far removed from their Christ that they wouldn't look twice at him if he was begging for change in front of Starbucks.

They're a private organization so unless they're receiving Federal money I don't see what raising a stink is going to do. Besides, I'd much rather be a Pawnee Goddess.

Jesus had a philosophy I can agree with. I just don't believe in any of the supernatural aspects to his story.

Christians are passionate about the supernatural elements, but fail at practicing the philosophy.

I don't think anyone is wanting to sit around the campfire and tell the kids about who they fucked. But straight leaders can casually mention their girlfriends or wives, but we have to keep quiet because our relationships are not as valid? You seriously think this is cool?

That plus, there are plenty of scouts who turn out to be gay, some on this site.
