I am too. Yeah I purport to be "masculine" by US society standards, but female vocalists fucking impress me.

My two favorites at this time are Christina Soto and Adele.

I'm currently working on mastering some piano lines. I've already mastered "Everafter" by Tritonal featuring Christina Soto, and am currently working on "Someone Like You" by Adele.

Here's the slower and more emotional version of "Someone Like You" performed in her home:

It almost made me cry, even though the lyrics have no bearing on my life whatsoever.

That's common..I have friends who cry at the opera. Half of the audience is composed by gay men, sometimes..
    Maybe it's a female archetype...

How about Madonna, Lady Gaga, Celine Dion ? So many gay fans...and you might think these media creatures are sometimes the creation of gay people (Formichetti for Gaga, JP Gaultier for Madonna).

Is the new woman a creation of gay men ? haha ..

I could care less about female vocalists.. they make shitty metal singers and they usually suck at guitar and drums. I dislike pop music so female singers do nothing for me.

I like good singers: Ella, Billie, Judy, Joni, Adele, certainly. But also, Van Morrison, Sam Cooke, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Ray Charles and Jason Mraz.

Yeah, I have come to realize that most singers in the bands I really like are female... Let's see..

    -Garbage = Shirley Manson
-Veruca Salt = Nina Gordon & Louise Post
-Die So Fluid = Grog (Female)
    -No Doubt = Gwen Stefani
    -Nightwish = Tarja Turunen
    -Epica = Simone Simmons

Man, my list can go on but yeah, you are definitely right haha.

Most of the songs on my computer are female singers.

Women have more fun. They do difficult stuff, they use their whole range, they are allowed to use any tone and affect in their repertoire.

Men are limited to doing masculine stuff with their voice, as anything beyond that is risky in terms of sales and reputation. A lot of men put on the gruff unnaturally (the beginning of every note in country music, or the raspiness of rock). Gets boring to me.

I must report to you all that deep down inside, I am a black female singer. At one time, 60% of my music was black female singers. Hence, I am a black female singer.

One of the best and most underated female vocalists is Nina Hagen and the extreme way she uses vocals. Two songs from her masterpiece album, Nunsexmonkrock.
(Cosma Shiva is the name of her daughter).

Oh, no- it goes way beyond that. Historically, there have been large gay followings for rock bands such as Heart and Fleetwood Mac based largely on the strength of vocals like Ann Wilson and Stevie Nicks. Even folk, punk, singer-songwriter, and country acts; you name it- Dolly Parton, Patti Smith, Nico, Captain & Tenielle, The Carpenters, Patsy Cline, the Cash's and Judd's, Maureen McGovern, Nancy Sinatra, Carly Simon, Loretta Lynn, the list goes on.

Anyone else here grow up in the 90's also have a thing for rappers like Missy Elliot, Foxy Brown, Da Brat, Mia-X, MC Lyte, Lil' Kim, Queen Latifah, Rah Digga, Eve, etc?

    Fucking LOVE Veruca Salt.

Honestly, in the 90's- most of the vocalists in the bands I loved were female:

    Boss Hog - Cristina Martinez
    Bis - Manda Rin
    L7 - Donita Sparks
Lords of Acid - Jade 4U
    Luscious Jackson - every member
    Bikini Kill - Kathleen Hanna
Babes in Toyland - Kat Bjelland
    Poe - Poe

and every fronting singer of almost every trip-hop and electronic-pop outfit: Portishead, Hooverphonic, Mono, Moloko, Esthero, Cibo Matto, Lamb, Broadcast, Gus Gus, Stereolab, and I believe Olive and Morcheeba. And Laika. And half of each Massive Attack albums.

I've been playing the HELL out of "Universal Radio" and "Smack Jack" lately.
