So its been a OK phone. It needed a ton of hacking to get it to work at potential, but now that its there... well, its gotten older.

My plan is to give the X10 to my father and look into something else for myself.

I am sticking with android, 100%, but question is, what is going to pass the test of time out there?

My xperia is on year three now...

My Motorola Razr flipphone is on year 5 now, and still going strong.

But I also have a Samsung Precedent (el cheapo from Wal-Mart...Straight Talk) that does everything else I need like email, web, and GPS in a pinch.

Get.the new Sony Xperia.S or U models. Available directly from Sony, unlocked. Reasonable prices for those two.

I don't want another sony product. Its locked down like apple and after the whole "android 2.1" xperia fiasco where sony refused to release software and then when they did it was super late etc, they can suck my dick. Never again

Xdadevelopers are just beginning to implement 4.0 ICS onto the x10, because sony is too stupid to do it.

The only reason not to get the Galaxy 3 is to wait for the Galaxy 4. icon_lol.gif

Motorola Droid Maxx is what I just got with Verizon and the phone ROCKS. I can do an average amount of texting and web browsing and stuff and if I forget to (or unable to) plug it in at night.... by noon the next day my battery life is only at 50%

    iPhone duh.

I know you want to stay with droid (why?)

If you are dead set on staying with droid, do with the new galaxy. I had the galaxy 2 for awhile (before I broke it which seems like a bad habit of mine lol) and it was nice... for a droid.

you're going with Android so i'll tell you this, in my experience Motorola's Droid overlay is inferior to those implemented by Samsung and HTC. I have the HTC Rezound right now and, while it doesn't feel as substantial as my old Thunderbolt, it is serving me VERY well. I've heard nothing but good things about the new Samsung Galaxy S3. Its supposed to be incredible (i'd have switched but my Thunderbolt got trashed two months ago and i don't believe the S3 was available yet)

Get the Galaxy S3. Not only better software but also quad core vs your current single core CPU.

Can I ask a question to you all with droids? I am asking because I used to have one and wouldn't go back after having my iPhone now. I had the Galaxy 2

Don't you find them stalling and freezing up a lot?

I used to have to pull the battery at least once a day because it just would freeze up on me. And I would quit all the back apps running and such every few hours... dunno. I guess that's why when people say droid I think ...meh....

Your phone was messed up. Reinstalling the OS may have fixed it. But I have the galaxy 1 and the background apps and OS run fine for weeks on end without ever turning off the phone.

It goes both ways though too. I bought an iPad before android had any real tablet options. It confirmed my hatred for apple. I don't know how anyone can be satisfied with such a limited locked down user experience. Even jailbroken my iPad is about as customizable as my fridge. I won't even start on itunes and the BS that is.

Yeah I am seriously contemplating the S3. Quad core ftw.

For everyone complaining about Droids crashing, etc, If you had or have shitty written apps+tons of media ( pics, music, movies etc) , it tends to slow down.

If its freezing non stop, a simple re installation of the OS fixes it.

That being said, I loaded my Xperia with cooked roms from XDA developers, to get more speed and performance out of it. They hardly ever hiccup which is amazing considering they were made by amateurs. The OEM Rom from sony is laughable at best

If you're concerned about getting updates then go for the Galaxy Nexus, even if it is a older phone now. Otherwise hold out for another Nexus. Of course you could always root your phone and get the modded updates.

I'm running my 2 year nexus s. Running ics and waiting for my jb update.

If updates aren't too much of a concern then imo HTC has the best third party UI.

Getting the "latest and greatest" of either the iPhone or Droid requires signing a contract, which includes an astronomically high price if you want unlimited talk, text, and data.

I have TWO phones, both on unlimited plans, and pay less than $80/month for both of them.

Fuck the latest and greatest. It's nothing but a scam.

Siri is a bastard child that was disowned by its entire family.
