I'm going to Israel to volunteer on a kibbutz for a several months this fall and I'll have about a week in early august before I start when I'll be in Tel Aviv. I realize I probably won't have difficulty having fun in what is apparently the gayest city on earth (though I don't really enjoy bars or nightclubs) but I was wondering if any guys on RJ have been and what they would recommend doing beyond the usual tourist stuff?

Hot Israeli men for starters! . I miss them..

But I didn't do much in TLV itself besides hang out at Pride, bars, and the beach. I did some awesome day tours of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, the Dead Sea, and Messada. All of which were amazing and I recommend. I can't wait to go back.

I got sent to Israel for a week a few years ago and spent 2 days in Tel Aviv - and it was awesome. I agree on the tour of Jerusalem, that was pretty awesome.

Also be sure to spend some time on the beach, I'm not a huge beach person, but that beach was incredible...the water was so warm and clear! As someone who grew up going to Ocean City Maryland, seeing my feet while in the ocean always amazes me icon_smile.gif

I will never forget...after days hiking in the desert I daytripped to Tel Aviv, headed straight to the beach, and the guy who rented the windsurfers was an incredibly good looking hairy-chested Israeli bodybuilder in a speedo. I might've thought he was a mirage, but it never occurred to me then that he might've been gay, but given what I know now, who knows?

WELL,i''m not the best person to answer that ,since i dont live in tlv,and havent been in a gay place for years [im not in the closet, just dont like thouse places]
    but
the gay beach is the north hilton beach [the name=the location]
one gay caffe and more activities is ''evita'' yavne street 21 or 12
gay shop ''sexy shop'' and the have somthing like a sauna dizengof 150
there r some clubs, but i realy dont know anything, realy hate clubs
2 saunas , one in ''hakhashmonaim''street 113 i think ,and one in alenby street 150-somthing [sorry again...]
I THINK THERE'S A LOT OF INFO IN THE NET JUST TYPE GAY TEL AVIV OR SOMTHING LIKE IT

the most popular internet site is ATRAF.COM OR ATRAF.CO.IL the secong is better but it requirs knowing hebrew, almost all gays are in ATRAF

israelis love tourists BUT, WE TEND TO BE VERY PICKY, the online page on atraf looks like realjoke [meaning a lot of hunks]

tel aviv is very gay, u can see guys kiss in the street and nobody cares.[jerusalem...no]

    Which kibbutz?

Tel Aviv has so much to offer... it really depends what your interests are.
Lots of museums (Art, Diaspora, Israeli history...), architecture tours, shopping (Nachlat Binyamin, Shenkin St), markets (Shuk ha'Carmel, Shuk ha'pishpeshim in Jaffa), Jaffa itself, Beaches/boardwalk....

I was in Israel a year ago and had a great time!

Went to MantaRay near Jaffa on the promenade for dinner. Its a bit pricey, but the food and view are amazing. Definitely head to Hilton Beach for some gay fun in the sun. Also, I recommend walking around Jaffa- there are tons of quaint restaurants and shops.

Do you speak Hebrew? I had a local take my friends and I around and found that very helpful. Most people speak English, but are reticent to use it. Also, you tend to get a better price with cabs, etc if you speak hebrew!

You'll love Israel. Really beautiful place and beautiful people. icon_smile.gif

Although he may be hot and Jewish, I don't think he's a very good representation of the hot guys you'd find in Israel.

Loads of malls, shops, cafes to have a coffee and watch HOT Israeli guys go past and in Tel Aviv, being gay is allowed.

There is of course the beach, a great place to see Israeli guys showing off their muscles. There's great restaurants, cinema houses.

Tel Aviv has a great & rich history. If your into architecture, walk around and take in the Bauhaus era/Modernist architecture or visit the countless galleries or museums.

Why not get hold of Israel Ministry of Tourism?!

Great many nightclubs and bars. Allenby 44 and Allenby 58, on Allenby Street are great. Bit pricey, but great.

The other thing about Tel Aviv; is the humidity and the air pollution coupled with the humidity, can get a bit daunting and the city is rather dirty, but if you can live it, you'll have a great time.

Tel Aviv, was just sand dunes and dilapidated old buildings in the early 1900's and now look at it, a thriving bustling metropolis. Getting around Israel, is so much fun, especially on the "Egged" bus service. The coaches are air conditioned, driven by some hot hunk fresh out of the army and they play either Army Radio or "Kol Yisreal" radio which plays nice music.

WOW....... JUST WOW!!! (i love the chai around his neck!!!) how i love the men of israel. had and great time when i was there. just my type..... swarthy, furry, PASSIONATE, and sexy. and most of them have the most amazing natural scent too.... WOOF. the beach by the TLV hilton is great too buddy. our flight crews layover in a hotel near there, and the male cabin crews always head right to the beach at the TLV hilton. it's one of gayest places in israel. you should go to elat while you are there. fantastic place. and don't be surprised if you engage in a little male bonding while on the kibbutz. hey, it happens. and it's usually the 'str8' men that make the advances. go, bubala........ enjoy. and have fun. mazel tov on your adventure.

I've been there a couple of times, and I have to chuckle when somebody calls anywhere in the Middle East beautiful.

It's a desert ... a massive, hot, uncomfortable, dangerous desert. Besides the historical places of interest - the Old City being the most noteworthy - there's nothing beautiful about it. The architecture is bland, acceptable cuisine by American standards is next to impossible to find (Haifa is much better for comfort and good food), and Tel Aviv is definitely is not the "gayest city on Earth".

OP is volunteering to work on a kibbutz for a few months. It's an admirable program, and one that's life changing for most (though Michele Bachmann volunteered on a kibbutz, so it's not always a positive change). On the flip side, I lost a good college friend; he was shot in the head while working on a kibbutz. Needless to say, you won't find me volunteering anytime soon.

As for the hot Israeli men so many of you are talking about, you should go to Israel and count how many "hot" men are walking the streets. I don't think you'll find too many that fit the bill. I don't know, maybe they only come out after midnight or something. Sure, I've seen hot Israelis, but I say the hottest men on the planet come from America and western Europe. To each his own.
