I'm heading to NYC tonight for work for a few days and I'm looking for a gym, preferably (but not necessarily) downtown that a) has a decent pool and b) allows out-of-towners to buy day/week passes. Surprisingly, this has proven harder to find that I would have thought. If anyone knows of a good one, I would appreciate it.

I believe Equinox on Greenwich has a pool, the YMCA on 14th & 6th, and NYSC in midtown.

All should allow you to buy a week/day pass

Surprising to me as well. NYC's gyms aren't particularly welcoming to out-of-towners, unless you know a current member and get a guest pass.

The gym at Chelsea Piers is a bit out of the way, but has a pool and is an overall spectacular gym.

I have also heard good things about the Y, as mentioned already.

If you are a Crunch member, they have a facility in the west 40s or west 30s that has a pool. When i was a crunch member i was able to visit the Weho, sunset location.

Depending on where you are staying, I think you can inquire for a day pass. it may be expensive about $25.

If you a Y member, you should be able to go to any Y.

    Enjoy your visit to NYC!

I go to the Y and could get you into the pool/gym as my guest.
