Men's Swimming - 200m Fly, 400m IM, 4 X 100m Medley Relay... those were the events I swam

Men's and Women's Diving - 10m platform... because it is just incredible to watch! I'm also an official for Diving and I kinda like comparing my scores to the ones from the Olympic judges.

Women's Volleyball... I'm actually watching Team Japan for this one; they are really strong! Although they lost, they just put up a hell of a fight against the USA!

Men's and Women's Cycling - Road Race... vicarious sightseeing.

Men's and Women's Gymnastics... yes, both the men's and the women's team. They hold the same allure as Diving. Oh... and of course I'm watching the men's team for the physiques!

gymnastics and anything that has guys in speedos
And the why is because gymnasts' bodies are just beautiful in their strength and grace, and because speedos (on an olympic body) are HOT.

The opening ceremony for the grace, beauty and spectacle of it all along with the awe and anticipation in the faces of the athletes is what I love. This OC was incredible! and to see 2008 beautiful Chinese guys was .... hmmmmm

Volleyball because it is MY sport! Diving again for the grace and beauty. Gymnastics for the grace and raw athleticism shown and NO I don't care for that over developed, unnatural look of their bodies,
Track and field always has drama and I love seeing all those guys trying so hard to win,

The Opening Ceremony was everything and more that you would expect from China; the history, culture and precision were all abound - just Fabulous !!

The Australian uniforms were a disgrace !! - who chose those tie-dyed 60's throw-backs !! anyhow...

Does anyone know ..... How many openly gay men are there and in what disciplines are they in ? - it would be great to track an support their progress while they are there - Got to support 'our' family members

cheers

MARATHON !!
USA stands an excellent medal chance with Deena Kastor. On the men's side, Ryan Hall did 2 spectacular races -- the qualifer at NYC and at London. He may be able to run with the big boys from Kenya and Ethiopia.

I have to absolutely, completely agree with you on all three of your points, esp point #1. Roman Sebrle is one of the most beautiful men on the planet! A perfect specimen of the male physique and pretty easy on the eyes...in my humble opinion.

I cannot wait to see him competing.

4x100 Medley Relay!

This was my favorite event! In an individual sport, the relay's are your only opportunity to work as a team. There is nothing better than the feeling or a great swim, when 3 other guys are counting on you doing your part. Completing the perfect start (your toes leaving the block, just at he moment your teammates fingertips touch the wall. I was a breaststroker, and getting a glimpse of your team mates yelling and jumping as you pull away form the competition always got my adrenaline flowing to help me finish strong.

From a spectator, what's amazing is that you have no idea how it will finish. In the individual events you can usually predict who will be in contention for the victory from the start. In the Olympics you rarely get a team with the best individual swimmers, so you might have one team lead on the back, and other on the Breast and Fly, then when the freestyler dives in you can't really tell (in a close race) who will be touching the wall first. Add to that they way a performance can come out of no where with the "swim of a lifetime" it can come down to hundredths of a second, like last night on the 400 Free Relay.

well i gotta say that i'm a big fan of the gymnastics ... since i'm heavily involved in it, gotta be loyal to it! haha.

but for those who are into gymnastics (especially the flipping aspect of it ... well and the guys wearing tight fitting clothing aspect too ...) ya'll should check out Trampoline. It's relatively new (entered in 2000 in Sydney) but it's under the Gymnastics branch. check it out on the 16th, 18th, and 19th.

My fave is men's gymnastics because of the beautifully muscled, limber bodies. A close second is men's swimming because of the lean, gorgeous, nearly nude bodies - the only drawback is that once the swimmers are in the water, you can't see much!
