3 buddies and I are going to Montreal August 29 to September 2.

Can you recommend a nice place? I'm thinking of the St. Catherine Street area but we are open.

Earlier this year my friends and I stayed at Urbain B&B right off Ste Catherine Street. It was OK... I would stay there again.

+ right off Ste Catherine Street
    + nice rooms
    + near public transportation
    + wi-fi
    + reasonable rates

    - no parking (we stashed our car in a public lot for during our stay = $$)
    - only one room has porn channels
    - two of the three rooms face Ste Catherine (could get noisy at night).
    - no hot tub/jacuzzi (the original Le HouseBoy had one)

dont go on ste catherine its gonna be kinda shady

If you are a tourist and have a decent budget and want a more beutiful setting, Id stay in the old montreal. Otherwise, look around the metro mcgill, peel area. Thats where u want to be its near the festivals, the village, the plateau, old montreal, etc

You can rent a bixi and it will take you like 5-10minutes to get everywhere

WhyWhySee saidJust curious as to why is it necessary to be a 'gay' hotel, is that like going to the baths or something? You don't have to worry about being gay in a straight hotel in YUL.

Exactly. Just look for a normal place. No one cares if you're gay in montreal, ive never even heard of gay rooms. You can just hang around the village on ste catherine if thats what you are looking for

To satisfy two of my friends, I have to choose a gay hotel or at least one that is very near the gayest area.

I prefer the Plateau but they will want to walk to the bars on St Catherine's.

I'd stay near the village. You can walk to all the restaurants and bars and not have to worry about cabs or driving, especially if you're drunk or partying late icon_razz.gif The plateau is an easy visit from there, depending on what part of the plateau you want to see. From the village you can connect to various parts of the city via the metro. DT is an easy metro ride or 30 min walk. Have fun!

If you want to be in the village stay at the Gouverneur. It is pretty decent and right in the village. if you stay somewhere like the W Hotel, it'll be more expensive, a longer walk to get to and from the village (still a short metro ride, cab ride or bixi ride). there are also a few other hotels (like the Hyatt, Le Dauphin and the Delta) that are near enough to walk but none are as close as the Gouverneur. As long as you stay east of Peel, you'll be fine.

The Gouveneur looks perfect. Great location. Thanks for this recommendation.
