For some reason I try my best to prevent myself from masturbating due to the fear of losing energy that I could have used while working out. I'm not really sure if that is actually true or not, or if masturbating makes u lose muscels by any possible way...Any ideas if that's true or not??

No, that's not true at all. There is absolutely no bit of research that suggests that cumming is negative in any way or form. Eat protein, lift heavy, get ripped.

If you were getting a good jerk off in, you're mind wouldn't be stressing about things like this.

It may be the other way around, a good wank could stimulate the production of testosterone, growth hormone, etc that would help stimulate muscle growth. But I will leave you to research it if you want to know.

Yeah, the contraction of your diaphragm when you breath also causes energy losses. You should save that for the gym. Stop breathing. Now.

Endocrine response to masturbation-induced orgasm in healthy men following a 3-week sexual abstinence.

    Exton MS, Kr?ger TH, Bursch N, Haake P, Knapp W, Schedlowski M, Hartmann U.

Institut f?r Medizinische Psychologie, Universit?tsklinikum Essen, Germany. michael.exton@uni-essen.de

This current study examined the effect of a 3-week period of sexual abstinence on the neuroendocrine response to masturbation-induced orgasm. Hormonal and cardiovascular parameters were examined in ten healthy adult men during sexual arousal and masturbation-induced orgasm. Blood was drawn continuously and cardiovascular parameters were constantly monitored. This procedure was conducted for each participant twice, both before and after a 3-week period of sexual abstinence. Plasma was subsequently analysed for concentrations of adrenaline, noradrenaline, cortisol, prolactin, luteinizing hormone and testosterone concentrations. Orgasm increased blood pressure, heart rate, plasma catecholamines and prolactin. These effects were observed both before and after sexual abstinence. In contrast, although plasma testosterone was unaltered by orgasm, higher testosterone concentrations were observed following the period of abstinence. These data demonstrate that acute abstinence does not change the neuroendocrine response to orgasm but does produce elevated levels of testosterone in males.

Yeah, you might feel more relaxed after a wank. That's it. If you're really concerned, jack AFTER you're done with your workout.

Anything else is Victorian-era bullshit designed to keep you from enjoying yourself. All of those concepts related to "conservation" of male energy, or protein, are variations on that bullshit.

I'm a firm believer that you should cum at least three times a day, and I still workout daily

save jerking off for after the gym and maybe you'll develop some Pavlovian response that will make you want to work out more.

But in general, it is healthier for a man to ejaculate a few times a week than not to at all. Here's an article on how having an orgasm a few times a week is healthier for you

If people just learned to respond to questions the way u do (no matter how silly they may be), life would have been so much easier.
    Thanks

    ok so serious answer....ready.....steady......go!

ejaculation, and even being hard, increases your bodies natural production of both testosterone THE essential masculine quality (in this case muscle buiding) hormone. and growth hormone, again an essential (and very expensive lol) hormone which is difficult to stimulate post puberty.
as well as these two huge benefits, being hard, masturbating, sex ect have also been linked to increased bio-availability of IGF-1 insulin like growth factor, this increased prouction in turn accelerates the rate (although only slightly) of absorbtion of protien (casein in particular).

if you couple this with the increased appetite effect that sexual activity can cause,

then no. it wont burn any muscle tissue, it will in fact help you grow (provided you are at a calorie surplus).

where you even heard that mis-information is mind boggling in itself

anyways good luck and have fun lifting (and wanking) icon_biggrin.gificon_biggrin.gif
