    I have a few:

    1) Watching my Father race down a steep mountain on a horse... It's the only childhood memory I have of him.

    2) Standing under an umbrella with my grandmother (mothers side) at a bus stop even though there were these young men making fun of her red hair. I felt protected by her.

    3) My Grandfather on my Father's side pointing out the stars to me one night around the fourth of july.

    4) Grandmother on my Father's side painting ceramics while I sat in her lap.

    5) My mother buying me a guitar for Christmas.

I have one major memory as a kid that I'll always remember clearly. There was a huge blizzard passing through my city. It was around Christmas and I remember being outside at night and looking up watching the snow pass the street lamps. It might sound stupid but it's a fond memory.

My Mama's preaching at our church one Sunday evening it was really moving.

When me, my brother, and sister all went out to Chuckie Cheese and showed out but in a fun way.

When my Daddy brought me a Nintendo 64

That doesn't sound stupid... It's what is special to you for whatever reason you might find out more of someday.

There was a grassy bank that went down to a little stream which ran through the pasture on my grandparents farm, where I lived. I never saw the cows over there, eating the grass, yet it always looked as if it had been mowed, regularly.

It was a place where I loved to go and sit, where the only sounds were the water flowing in the stream, and the birds chirping in the trees.

    Building forts with my brother.

Waking up on Saturday mornings to the smell of my father cooking breakfast and the sound of cartoons playing in the living room.

Just doing things in general without too much thought or fear of consequence. Allowing myself to fall, imagine, get hurt, etc., without any fear.

    - waking up from a nap some time around Christmas to find my mom decorating the tree with Mannheim Steamroller playing in the background
    - all of my friends picking blackberries in a field near my house with me
    - spending the weekend with my best friends (after they'd moved out of state) in one of their houses in Memphis... playing by the lake, having bonfires, running all over the house

    kinda missing childhood now.

I didn't mean to make you sad. I was actually feeling a bit sad earlier when I wrote this post and kind of wanted to go on a peaceful journey with it. If it makes you feel any better, I strongly believe we are born again at some point in time. Your soul will attach itself to those memories for eternity. That is why I believe the topic is so important.icon_smile.gif

    Peaceful childhood memories:

    - Lying on a sloping part of our backyard lawn, gazing up at the summer clouds to look for faces and other shapes.
    - Falling asleep on the chaise lounge in our screened summer porch, listening to the tree leaves rustling and the noisy night insects outside, or sometimes to a light rain I could smell before I heard it, with distant thunder and flashes of lightning.
    - Opening my bedroom window so I could hear heavy falling snow making a soft hissing sound in the quiet night, and staring for minutes at the flakes lit by a street lamp, checking back often in hopes school would be cancelled.
    - Sitting on the front porch with my Father at dusk, waiting for the June lightning bugs to appear, a glass jar at my side to catch them, and trying to be quiet and not frighten the wild rabbits that would cross the lawn that same time every evening.
    - Sleeping-in late on a summer morning, my bedroom windows wide open, waking to bird songs and the feel of soft breezes on my face as the curtains billowed, marveling how good my bed felt when there was no other place I had to be.
    - Sitting on a dock at boy's summer camp, puzzled watching shadows move across the wooded hills far across the lake, and finally realizing the cause was clouds passing the sun elsewhere but not above me, annoyed with myself that at 8 I had never known about that effect before.
    - Nestled in a hammock, enjoying the patterns of the branches and tree leaves above me, and the antics of squirrels up there.
    - And too many more to list, but happy for this reason to think about them again. icon_biggrin.gif

Frolicking the neighborhood with friends, breaking sticks off of trees, shaving them to look like samurai swords, and pretending to be samurai warriors.

Hide and go seek "in the dark"
