    Laffites and good friends= older mature group.. More relaxed atmosphere
    Bourbon Pub= A party area for older and younger guys.. A more relaxed scene upstairs
    Rawhide and Phoenix bar= If you are into leather and want to get fucked.
    Corner pocket= The younger skinny twinks want older guys to pay for them
    Oz= Younger dance crowd..

    Your choice.. I love New Orleans. I visit every 2 weeks to go out here.. So fun!

    Dead on.

    Also, for a classy smoke-free atmosphere try the Carousel Bar in the lobby of the Hotel Monteleone. It's not a "gay" bar but its one of my favorites. Also if you want to watch people make asses of themselves the upstairs lounge of Cat's Meow (karaoke bar) is perfect (it overlooks the karaoke stage and is usually pretty devoid of morons and the bathroom door locks, unlike the one at Oz)

    If you go there frequently, there's a group from Mobile who goes there every chance they can (to Cat's Meow). Every May/June they take a week-long trip for "RHOfest" (Random-Hard-On Fest?) to celebrate one of the group member's birthdays. They make yearly t-shirts and everything. I wish I could see what they look like at the karaoke bar one year! It's gotta be entertaining.

    Excellent and correct observations.

    Bar hopping in the pub, laffite's, good friends, rawhides, oz and the pocket is called "doing the fruit loop" by the locals. Sunday afternoon/evening is called "teatime" by us local guys.

    You might also consider exploring the area directly adjacent and to the east of the french quarter called Marigny-Bywater.

    This is the gayborhood where most of the gay guys who work in "da quatta" live. Similar style houses to da quatta, music venues, gay friendly bars, restaurants, coffee shops abound....at prices much less than the touristy french quarter.

    Also check out the "clothing optional" country club on Louisa street in the marigny-bywater area.

    Love the Carousel Bar. It's the perfect place to go if you want to be able to have a romantic talk with a special someone. Just remember it's the bar that actually revolves, not you (because you've had too many?).
