Because of Thursday night's shooting in Colorado, the "Gangster Squad" movie is going to be recut. There's a scene in particular in which the main characters shoot up a movie theater.

    Your thoughts?

In my opinion, this isn't the appropriate way to handle this. Sure, the shooting was sad and all, but tough stuff happens in life. I mean, if 5 car crashes happened in one week, should car accident scenes be cut from upcoming films?

IMO it should NOT be cut. If the intent of the original movie was to show this, then just do it. Sure its tough to look at given what happened but thats up to the movie goer to decide. People who would be real sensitive to this probably wouldnt be going anyway

back after 9/11 they were actually cutting the World Trade Center from movies...I thought that was ridiculous

It's the same with the Madonna concert. people says she should stop using guns in her show, I don't think this is the way to handle this, seeing a gun or playing a violent video game can't transform somebody into a killer, I think that's only lacking of family values, real friends and selfsteem.

You can't turn to Heterosexual just to see a heterosexual movie! xD

Yep, I remember watching Home Alone 2 on FOX Family (well, back when it was FOX Family) during their "25 Days of Christmas" programming block back in December 2001, just after 9/11. The scene where Kevin visits the Twin Towers is cut out.

People are desensitized to car crashes in a way in which they are not desensitized to crazy thugs in ballistic gear entering theaters with an AZ, a Glock, and a rifle and mowing down six year olds. And rightfully so. "Sad and all" is not an apt description for this rather unique event.

This is an appropriately sensitive response to an unprecedented tragedy. If the film artists support it, then so do I.
