Being happier is good for your looks(?)

So a few days ago I was looking through my pictures on facebook. I started looking through pictures of my time abroad. When I was abroad I was very happy, I had a lot of friends, everything was special and I just enjoyed it so much. But like all good things this also came to an end, so after 1 semester abroad I had to go back to my own country again. Back at home I'm ok, lets say not TOO happy but not unhappy either. I have my friends my job and my studies. I see this time here as temporarly just to finish my studies and going abroad again.

So the real reason why I started this thread is that I was comparing pictures of my time abroad with pictures taken lately. Im always unhappy with my pictures but that aside I had to say that I looked way better in my pictures of my time abroad than in my pictures that have been taken the last 2-3 months. I had no bags under my eyes, I looked sincerely happy, had a very natural smile on all the pictures instead of the fake one that I have when my picture gets taken and you can just see that I was enjoying life to the fullest there. Everyone who sees those pictures always tells me that you can really see I had a good time there. Did any of you guys have the same experience as well? And also what can I do to look like I did there again, I have to stay here for at least a year more before I am done with my master degree. Should I just keep in mind that after this year I can do what I want again and just deal with it?..

You do have beauty that shines from within. It's one of the great mysteries of life.

That said, if you have bags under your eyes, the worst thing you can do is ignore it. You should treat them with anti-aging creams and a healthier diet. Your skin is your biggest organ and it's most delicate under your eyes. Try to be gentle and never rub them.

    1. I guess when you're happier, your reflection in the mirror (subjectively) looks better to you.

    2. The fact that you think you look better gives you confidence.

    3. Confidence is sexy.

    Simple maths.

I listen to comedy podcasts on the train, at work, on walks, at the gym. I pretty much have a goofy smile on my face all waking hours....

I enjoy it, but those crows feet sure do get deep. Plus the fits of laughter gives off a nice impression of insanity.

Positive energy *always* makes you look better.

Just moisturize to keep the skin supple, thus keeping the crows-feet at bay. icon_cool.gif

MuchoMasQueMusculo saidAlso take into consideration that your diet might have been different and maybe the quality of food was better. Did you also get more rest while living abroad?

Those can have an impact on your physical appearance.

But, of course, you do bring up very good points. If you were happier that's also going to make a difference.

the quality of food definitely wasnt better. I did get more rest I think. I went to a country where time is not as important as it is in our western cultures.. means less stress

But also consider that the food you ate abroad might have been less genetically altered or chemically treated. That might have some impact on how you looked and felt.

hmm Im sure that this could be the case if it had to do something with food. The canteens where I usually ate made all the food themselves.

Hard to tell by your profile as those pics obviously taken abroad weren't closeups. Everyone looks better in a long shot.

Maybe it has to do with the amount of sun that I got there as well icon_razz.gif So many reasons could be behind it I guess ^^

You need to fix your weave.

I wish people like you would grow up and think before you speak. I could point out a few things you need to fix but it's disrespectful to do so. Learn some manners and pass it along to your other 21 yr old friends

Being in a place as a visitor or temporarily is different from setting up home and living there.

Usually you will be happier while visiting or living temporarily as there are less obligations to follow through. As well as being aware that whatever happens you know that this place isn't home and you will eventually leave and perhaps never to return. Thus effectively leaving any issues behind that may have come up. Now when you get back home, cant really run away from issues, can you?
