I want to get a tattoo, but I'm a little nervous because it's permanent. I have to make sure it is something that is meaningful to me but also something will look good on me and isn't cliche. Also, the location on my body. Come on guys, help me out? Pretty please.. =-)

    start small and easily hidden.

ive got quite a few now and they are absolutely addictive, so dont waste good space on your body getting something on say your upper arm, when one of the main factors is the pain and therefore the size.

i got a mahusive 3/4 sleeve done recently, and the pain is all good.

i cant say its easy but whilst you are undecided dont decide.

    good luck post pics x

Why not get a tat of the painting in your profile. Get it on your hip/thigh. Meh! Yes, they are permanent, but if you get something you like and check out the artist beforehand... rarely have I met people who absolutely hate their tattoo and want to get it removed. I have met maybe 1 in 15/20 people who feel that way, and they all had some sort or WB or Disney cartoon.

    Happy Ink!

Talk to a tattoo artist first.
I think you can get a temporary tattoo like the I've you want to get in order to realize if it really works for you or not

Get an upside down flaming cross on your arm. Then on your back get your cities skyline and put a scorpion in each corner and your last name in old english going across the top. Then at the bottom of the skyline (in even older english) put "Lil Loco 4 Life"

    Shits hawt

I had a graphic artist create a simple tattoo that represents how I approach and live my life.

I then spent a fair amount of time looking at tattoo artist work before getting inked.

    I dont regret it.

I would suggest that you hire a graphic designer/artist to create a meaningful piece for you, then have them draw it on your body with permanent magic marker and wear it for a week.

If you still like it, get it.

Contrary to popular belief, your first tattoo should be pretty big. Mine was on my back (pic in my profile) and its a good size. You get all the really great detail once its that big, otherwise it just looks like another tattoo that you got spur of the moment at an Inn out in La Jolla.

Spend a lot of time developing a concept, then even longer finding an artist you really love. Set up a consultation once you've settled on a concept and let the artist run with the idea: it's what they do. Also, think about your subject, and if thats something ur artist is good at. For example, some artists specialize in portraiture, others in flowers and other horticultural elements.

And finally, budget. My half sleeve is going to run me almost 3 grand, so be prepared to fork over cash for a great tattoo.
